It’s often said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and on one score, Vice President Kamala Harris is surely following President Biden’s lead.
In keeping with the theme of the Biden administration, the Vice President’s failure to connect with the public is now being explained away as someone else’s fault.
And a former staffer for Kamala Harris tried to blame her dismal approval ratings on this tired old excuse.
Vice President Kamala Harris is a walking gaffe machine.
She has a history of making redundant and patently obvious statements.
More word salad woes for Vice President Harris
The latest example came when Harris spoke in Washington, D.C. last week about the Biden administration’s tenure overseeing the American economy.
She brought up investment in community banks and put herself in the spotlight again with a repetitive statement.
“And so, for years we have worked to expand investment in community banks because, you see, community banks specialize in providing loans and financial assistance to small business owners, in particular those in overlooked and underserved communities, including rural communities,” Harris said. “And as the name suggests, community banks are in the community.”
The response on social media was merciless.
The Michigan GOP called it “another pearl of wisdom from our fearless VP.”

“Let’s see if she can figure this one out!” radio personality Ken Miles wrote. “Grocery stores sell GROCERIES.”

Self-awareness is not Kamala Harris’ strong suit, and apparently the same can be said for her staffers.
Harris partisans: it has to be about race and gender
CNN political commentator and former Harris staffer, Ashley Allison, said that her abysmal approval numbers are because she is a “black woman” and a “history maker.”
Of course, the race card is the only card they know how to play.
On CNN’s State of the Union, Allison said “I think [Harris’ low approval rating] is happening for a couple of reasons. Most people don’t know what Vice Presidents do. And now she is a history maker. She is a woman, she is a black woman, and it’s the easy thing to do to say she’s the attack dog, go after her.”
An NBC poll released in June showed only 32% of registered voters have a positive view of Harris compared to 49% with a negative view, including 39% with a “very negative view.”
These numbers are “the lowest for any Vice President in the poll’s history.”
If Harris partisans want to point the blame for her failures elsewhere, they are free to do so, but most fair-minded people know that the culprit is herself.
The Democrats would do well to be honest with themselves about it, particularly given the increasing chatter that Joe Biden may not be up to another rigorous Presidential campaign.
