A new Democrat Congresswoman just enraged Christians with her abuse of the Bible

She ran as a moderate Democrat.

And she had to since she would represent a major hub of conservative Christianity in America.

But a new Democrat Congresswoman just enraged Christians with her abuse of the Bible.

Democrat Hillary Scholten quotes Scripture while voting against Born Alive Act

Last week, freshman Democrat Congresswoman Hillary Scholten joined all of her Democrat colleagues, but one, in voting to kill the Born Alive Abortions Survivors Protection Act, which would have required medical care to be given to babies born alive after an attempted abortion.

Scholten justified her vote by quoting Jeremiah 1:5, which states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”

This is a verse used often by Christians to argue against abortion, so it is a pretty interesting twist for a Democrat to use it to approve of abortion.

But Scholten charged ahead with her absurd interpretation of Jeremiah 1:5, saying “It doesn’t say the government’s womb or the speaker’s womb. It says the mother’s womb.”

This must be one of the saddest and most pathetic attempts by a Democrat to justify their support of abortion.

But even as sad as this is, what is more sad is that she used it to justify denying care to a baby born alive during a botched abortion, essentially endorsing infanticide by leaving a living and breathing child to die on a cold slab of steel.

Calls herself a “Pro-choice Christian”

During her two runs for Congress, Scholten played up her faith and downplayed her radical views on abortion as she was running to represent Grand Rapids, Michigan, a major hub for Reformed Christianity.

She talked often about her being a Christian, a member of the Christian Reformed Church of North America (CRCNA).

The CRCNA is one of the largest mainline “Reformed” denominations in America, but over the last few decades it has become more and more liberal, just as the rest of the mainline Christian denominations.

And this explains how Scholten can get away with calling herself a “Pro-Choice Christian” on the floor of Congress without having any fear of facing church discipline back home.

Her use of Jeremiah 1:5 not only shows an incredible amount of biblical ignorance, but also just the pure wickedness that is in her heart to willingly twist the meaning of Scripture to justify the murder of unborn children just to score political points.

Democrats totally radicalized on abortion, Republicans clueless how to fight back

Long gone are the days when Democrats would call for abortions to be “safe, legal and rare.”

Nowadays, it is abortion up until birth without parental consent and covered by the taxpayers.

What we witnessed in the 2022 elections is that the Republican Party and the pro-life establishment were completely unprepared for the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

They were unwilling to call out Democrats for their radical views on abortion and instead felt the need to apologize for defending the lives of the unborn.

But as sad as the politics are on the issue of abortion, the state of the issue in the Church at large is severely problematic and must be addressed if there is any hope for a cultural change on this issue.

As 1 Peter 4:17 states, “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God.”

The Church must get its business in order if there is any hope for cultural revival.

And a church that allows a politician in their membership rolls to errantly use Scripture to defend wickedness is no church at all.
