It’s bad enough that the government wants to confiscate your guns.
Now some corporate giants are getting in on it too.
And a Texas Congressman is warning this move by credit card companies is a direct assault on gun owners.
The woke nanny state crowd is on a roll.
They’ve got the Presidency, both houses of Congress, the entire Democrat Party, and a sizable chunk of the Republican Party to do their bidding.
They have the corporate-controlled media and Hollywood, as well as Disney, to promote their cause, and churn out P.R. for them.
Now they can add credit card companies to their arsenal.
Credit card companies have a long history of refusing to monitor card holder purchases.
“We do not believe Visa should be in the position of setting restrictions on the sale of lawful goods and services,” Visa wrote in 2018.
But now, in answer to the leftist push for gun confiscation, it seems the credit card companies are changing their tune.
A special category for conservatives
In the Left’s mad rush to seize power they are working feverishly to separate Americans into warring factions.
It is part of the socialist playbook.
They’ve reinstituted segregation in the schools and universities, they’ve turned brother against brother on economic and social issues, and they’ve stigmatized anyone who doesn’t kowtow to their demands.
To add to this growing schism credit card companies Visa, Mastercard, and American Express have now decided to implement a new merchant category code (MCC) for firearms retailers.
And gun owners and Second Amendment supporters are none too happy.
Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) sent letters to the CEOs of American Express, Visa, and Mastercard stating that this separate category will “ultimately lead to discrimination against law-abiding Americans” and that it would be used to “create a registry of gun owners that will be used solely for political purposes.”
And that is just the beginning of what the credit card companies will do.
It won’t be long before they begin deciding who can buy what.
No gun for you
As Congressman Gooden put it in an interview with Breitbart, “Woke corporations are nothing more than puppets of the Biden Administration and act as the fourth arm of government to push the Democrats’ radical agenda.”
“If these companies are allowed to categorize gun sales separately, they will proactively decline transactions at gun shops and help the left establish a national registry of gun owners.”
And that is the real danger with the credit card companies and their anti-gun plan.
How long until they begin deciding who can and cannot buy a gun or ammo and deciding just how many guns or how much ammo is too much?
It’s a real danger to all law-abiding gun owners.
You will have to answer for this
But there is hope.
Congressman Gooden, and others, have warned the credit card companies to abandon this ill-thought-out anti-gun plan.
As Gooden put it, “They can abandon this partisan plan or answer to a Republican House next Congress.”
“Again, I urge you to abandon this unnecessary surveillance and criminalization of the firearms industry. I would caution you that moving forward with the proposal will be interpreted as a direct attack on the constitutional rights and privacy of law-abiding Americans,” Gooden concluded in his letters to Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Now the only question is, if the credit card companies move forward with their plan, will the Republicans really hold them accountable?
