Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is hellbent on undermining border security.
He poured fuel on the fire with one move.
Now Alejandro Mayorkas is feeling the heat after he threw the Border Patrol this curveball.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is one of the chief architects of President’s Joe Biden’s radical open borders agenda.
The Border Patrol, which he oversees, is completely overwhelmed by the Biblical flood of illegal aliens pouring across the wide-open southern border.
Secretary Mayorkas is taking Border Patrol agents off of border security operations by having them process illegal aliens that make into the country.
Now, he’s instituting another rule to further handcuff Border Patrol agents from stopping illegal aliens from entering the country.
The Biden Department of Homeland Security announced a new policy that will handicap Border Patrol agents from chasing human smugglers.
“The policy, released by Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) acting commissioner, bans agents from trying to box in a fleeing car or from using a pursuit immobilization technique in which a car is intentionally nudged to get it to stop,” The Washington Times reported.
The policy also discourages agents from engaging in high-speed pursuit after a vehicle, pursuing a vehicle headed towards a populated area, or one that’s overloaded with illegal aliens.
All of those are regular occurrences for Border Patrol agents chasing a fleeing vehicle.
The CBP said the changes were being implemented for safety reasons, and to make agents think twice about whether a crime is serious enough to warrant pursuing the culprit.
“The safety of officers, agents, and the public are paramount as we carry out our mission,” acting CBP head Troy Miller said.
The National Border Patrol Council said that the changes appear to encourage vehicles fleeing Border Patrol agents to drive more recklessly to stop agents from pursuing them.
“There is a lot to be said for police backing off when they know who the criminal is and they can take the person into custody later, but in our job, the vast majority of vehicles used to smuggle are not registered to the person driving, so even if we run the license plate and find out who the registered owner is, we have to prove the owner was the driver or had knowledge,” National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd said. “Very difficult.”
The policy replaces a more aggressive one that Border Patrol agents utilized under former President Donald Trump.
High speed chances happen frequently as smugglers try to move illegal aliens and drugs across the border.
Border Patrol agents routinely engage in high-speed chase that can top 100 miles per hour.
With the Biden regime’s new policy, illegal aliens know that if they recklessly speed across the border, Border Patrol agents won’t chase them.
Alejandro Mayorkas is trying to dismantle any semblance of border security by tightening the leash on Border Patrol agents.
