Most Americans have long believed the federal government was getting too big and too powerful.
Ever since the COVID pandemic and the 2020 election, it’s become increasingly clear that if you dissent online your voice will be silenced.
Now the truth is coming out and Alejandro Mayorkas was sweating bullets after this secret DHS program targeting Americans was just exposed.
DHS is trying to control everything that is seen and discussed online
The Department of Homeland Security has been expanding on resources that it can use to silence the speech of political dissidents.
Some of their efforts have been made public while others are just now coming to light.
One of the most overt actions brought by the DHS was their establishment of their “Disinformation Governance Board,” which was designed to police content of online discussions.
Their goal was to root out alleged “misinformation” whether it was deliberate or not.
Many saw it for what it was – an attempt to change the topics of conversation online and bolster policy positions by elected officials.
Some alleged further censorship, but according to reporting from the Intercept there was a lot more going on behind the scenes the whole time.
FBI official says we need a “media infrastructure that is held accountable”
According to the notes from a March meeting, an FBI official, Laura Dehmlow warned senior executives in the financial and tech sector what the repercussions of so-called misinformation could be.
Specifically, she warned them about needing to provide support for the federal government.
She claimed that there needs to be a “media infrastructure that is held accountable.”
This all started in response to the hacking of high-profile U.S. companies in 2018.
When Congress passed the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act – which created CISA – a DHS agency that infamously declared the 2020 elections to be the “most secure election in history.”
It didn’t take long for CISA to declare their “evolved mission” of monitoring discussion online and “routing disinformation concerns” to the social media platforms to deal with the problem.
“Weekly teleconferences” and mechanisms to help with “removal of reported misinformation”
By the time the 2020 election rolled around the operation had matured into something they considered ready for its first test.
They held “weekly teleconferences to coordinate Intelligence Community activities to counter election-related disinformation.”
They created mechanisms to communicate with the tech platforms so they could “process reports and provide timely responses, to include the removal of reported misinformation from the platform where possible.”
Under Biden, CISA has established the “Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation” team.
Effectively, CISA doubled down on their efforts and brought their intentions out into the open.
CISA Director says our minds are “cognitive infrastructure” and need to be safe from “disinformation” Biden’s Director of CISA Jen Easterly makes it clear that she’s here to control the thoughts of Americans.
In a terrifying statement she said, “the most critical infrastructure is our cognitive infrastructure, so building that resilience to misinformation and disinformation, I think, is incredibly important.”
In a text message exchange with Microsoft representative Matthew Masterson back in February, Easterly discussed the need to “get us in a place where Fed can work with platforms to better understand mis/dis trends so relevant agencies can try to prebunk/debunk as useful.”
Masterson shared her sentiment stating, “Platforms have got to get comfortable with gov’t. It’s really interesting how hesitant they remain . . .”
This is a frightening reality and there’s surely more to come out following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.
