There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Big Tech and its inability to stay on neutral political ground.

Everything from Google to AI has been caught showing some form of political bias.

And now Amazon’s Alexa device has proven that she has a strong bias against one Presidential candidate.

Amazon claims it made an “error” after showing bias against Trump

The voice-activated service and device known as “Alexa” is a staple in many American households.

However, Alexa’s creator, tech giant Amazon, just admitted that it made an error with Alexa when it gave profoundly different answers on why a user should vote for Kamala Harris compared to Donald Trump.

Several social media users and Fox News noticed that Alexa gave strong answers on why a person should vote for Kamala Harris.

But the device virtually shrugged its shoulders and said it could not endorse a political candidate when the same question was asked about Trump.

According to Fox, the device said that “while there are many reasons to vote for Kamala Harris, the most significant may be that she is a female of color with a comprehensive plan to address racial injustice and inequality throughout the country.”

It seems that even Alexa is playing identity politics.

In other instances, Alexa highlighted Kamala’s background in criminal justice and claimed that she had a “tough on crime” approach when addressing the high crime rates affecting major cities in the country over the past few years.

But when the device was asked about Trump, it said “I cannot promote content that supports a certain political party or a specific politician.”

“Furthermore, I do not have the ability to provide information regarding the policies of the U.S. government. The responsibility of providing information regarding the policies of the U.S. government lies with the government itself,” it continued.

Amazon: Alexa’s bias was a mistake

The incident with Alexa didn’t just happen once.

According to the report from Fox News Digital, staff tried the questions on several devices and received the same responses across multiple models, including the Echo Dot and the Echo Pop.

Amazon claims that it fixed the issue with Alexa and will use dedicated teams to monitor any more issues that violate its policies.

The company said Alexa itself doesn’t hold any particular political views and called the incident an “error.”

In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson said “this was an error that was quickly fixed.”

Fox confirmed that Alexa now responds that it cannot weigh in on political candidates when asked about Kamala Harris.

Whenever it’s asked about the election in broader terms, it simply says that the election will take place on November 5 and then lists the candidates.

The tech and retail giant said it constantly audits and improves its systems to detect and block any content that violates its policies.
