Even though Democrats claim to be the “anti-war Party,” recent events once again prove that this is absolutely not the case.
Most Democrats have supported spending billions of dollars on Biden’s proxy war in Ukraine.
And Americans were outraged when Chuck Schumer took this shameless political swipe at Ron DeSantis.
The last thing America needs is another endless war
Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Democrats and other so-called moderate politicians have made it their mission to get the United States involved in any way possible.
Nobody will deny that the suffering of the Ukrainian people is a tragedy.
However, there are many politicians out there who are thinking twice before engulfing America in another global conflict.
This is especially the case given the fact that Russia has the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world.
On the topic of nuclear weapons, Russia just announced that they plan to move tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus by this summer.
Instead of focusing on the matter at hand, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer used this opportunity to take a shameless political jab at Governor Ron DeSantis.
In a tweet sent out last Monday, Senator Schumer said “an increasingly vocal minority within the Hard Right is more comfortable excusing Putin rather than condemning him. GOP Governor DeSantis even referred to the Ukraine war as a ‘territorial dispute’. This isn’t hard: Putin is a threat to American national security and democracy.”
This tweet is a direct response to a written comment Governor Ron DeSantis made to Tucker Carlson that said, ”While the U.S. has many vital national interests — securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party — becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them.”
DeSantis has since walked back these comments by clarifying that “what I’m referring to is where the fighting is going on now, which is that eastern border region Donbas, and then Crimea, and you have a situation where Russia has had that. I don’t think legitimately, but they had.”
“There’s a lot of ethnic Russians there,” he continued. “So, that’s some difficult fighting, and that’s what I was referring to, and so it wasn’t that I thought Russia had a right to that, and so if I should have made that more clear, I could have done it.”
Chuck Schumer just proved he is more interested in playing politics than avoiding a World War
For career politicians like Senator Chuck Schumer, political posturing is their top priority.
This is true even if it means putting America to the brink of World War III.
Securing peace should be the priority of any elected official, but Chuck Schumer and his Democrat allies are determined to go to war with Russia.
As far as Ron DeSantis is concerned, he was right to label the Ukraine conflict as a territorial dispute because that is exactly what it is.
Giving Chuck Schumer the satisfaction of walking back his comments is a losing strategy.
