President Joe Biden insists he wants to run for re-election in 2024.
Behind the scenes, Vice President Kamala Harris is getting into position, just in case.
But both Biden and Harris were in a state of shock over which White House official is beating them in the polls.
An unpopular President
President Joe Biden’s recent problems with classified documents being found in his home – where his son, Hunter Biden, resided part time – is only the tip of the iceberg forming his unpopularity.
A recession, runaway inflation, record-high gas prices, surging crime rates, a crisis on the southern border, a fentanyl epidemic, indoctrination of children in government-run schools – the list goes on-and-on.
A recent Quinnipiac poll had Biden’s approval at just 38%, for a net negative 15-point approval rating.
If not Biden, who?
However, Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris is even less popular.
The RealClearPolitics average approval rating for the Vice President is less than 37%, for a net-negative approval rating of about 16.5-points.
And neither Biden nor Harris is performing well in hypothetical 2024 Democrat Primary polling.
The University of New Hampshire just released a new survey measuring Democrat Primary strength in 2024.
Vice President Harris only scored 2% – near the bottom of the entire group of choices – only edging out California Gov. Gavin Newsome, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmore and Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock who each grabbed just a single percent support along with Illinois Gov. J.B.Pritzker, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and newly-elected Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro who all failed to register a full percent.
President Biden, meanwhile, tallied a mere 18% and is tied for second in the poll with Elizabeth Warren and only slightly ahead of Bernie Sanders who had 15% support from New Hampshire Democrat voters.
Leader of the Squad, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York garnered 6% of respondents, while Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar was a point behind at 5%.
Mayor Pete for President?
The leader of the poll is the current U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg at 23% – that’s 5-points better than his boss Joe Biden and 21-points higher than Veep Harris.
As Transportation Secretary, Buttigieg shares the blame of rampant inflation throughout the Biden Presidency.
He’s been unable to manage the supply chain crisis.
According to Fox Business, inflation during Biden’s time in the Oval Office is costing the average American family $717 per month.
In fact, his time in the Biden Administration is best remembered for his two-months of paternity leave after he and his husband adopted twins.
Prior to his tenure in Biden’s cabinet, Buttigieg was on the 2020 Democrat Primary dais alongside Biden and Harris.
His only claim to fame earning him a spot on the stage was being Mayor of South Bend, Indiana and having a husband – which checked an important identity politics box with Democrats.
South Bend has a population of about 100,000 residents.
But apparently, that’s enough for New Hampshire Democrats to make Mayor Pete their politician of choice.
