The state of California is literally crumbling before America’s eyes.
Californians have been fleeing for conservative states, like Texas and Florida, as the left-wing extremists who run the state force their radical authoritarian agenda on the people.
And in their latest stroke of genesis, California banned gas-powered cars, but that lasted less than one week before all hell broke loose.
When virtue signaling meets reality
Last week, the unelected bureaucrats on the California Air Resources Board made the unilateral decision to ban gas-powered vehicles in the state by the year 2035.
It was a decision that was praised relentlessly by left-wing environmental extremists in the Democrat Party, and even adopted by states like Washington, Massachusetts, and – for some reason – Virginia, thanks to a Democrat-passed law that requires the Commonwealth to adopt California’s absurd vehicle emissions standards.
However, the majority of Americans saw it for what it truly is – left-wing virtue signaling to their extremist base of brain dead minions.
Even The Washington Post editorial board came out to call California’s forced adoption of electric vehicles as “clunky,” and to admit that “there’s a better way.”
That better way, of course, does not involve government force, and instead should focus on stopping left-wing environmental extremists from blocking lithium, cobalt, and nickel mines needed to produce EV batteries, dropping other burdensome and overreaching regulations, and allowing car manufacturers to build the best vehicles they can so consumers decide what’s best for them.
Instead, California decided to rush the adoption of electric vehicles long before the EV industry has matured enough to sustain producing tens of millions of EVs every year.
And now, their virtue signaling is meeting reality, as just six days after California proudly announced their ban, they sent out an order demanding Californians not charge their EVs due to the fact that their electrical grid is already at capacity.
“The top three conservation actions are to set thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, avoid using large appliances and charging electric vehicles, and turn off unnecessary lights,” California Independent System Operator (CAISO) told customers. “Lowering electricity use during that time will ease strain on the system, and prevent more drastic measures, including rotating power outages.”
The idea that some 40 million Americans live in a state that not only is now forcing them to buy a specific type of vehicle, but then also threatens that if they charge them, the state will simply start “rotating power outages,” is bananas.
Yet, that’s the reality in California, and if Democrats have their way, it will be reality in the rest of the country too.
So what do Democrats have to say about this total shitshow?
It’s the environment’s fault, not Democrats . . .
At least, that’s what California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom apparently wants people to believe.
“It’s pretty clear Mother Nature has outrun us,” Governor Newsom claimed. “The reality is we’re living in an age of extremes – extreme heat, extreme drought.”
Most would say the only real “extreme” is how extremely unprepared the state of California is to actually back up their virtue signaling.
But not Democrats like Gavin Newsom.
Interestingly, though, the issues with California’s electric grid are nothing new.
In fact, back in the summer of 2020 – while the nation was distracted by violent left-wing riots in major cities across America – major portions of California were engulfed by rolling blackouts.
Yet, Gavin Newsom and Democrats, who have controlled California for decades, have done nothing about it other than targeting oil and gas companies, as well as the nuclear industry, in order to further weaken the energy grid while they try to overload it by forcing the adoption of EVs.
It’s almost like Democrats won’t be satisfied until America literally chooses to tear civilization to the ground, and live like the Flintstones.
Talk about “progress.”
