Even though the chances of him winning are slim to none, former New Jersey Governor and GOP Presidential candidate Chris Christie loves to be in the spotlight.
The kamikaze candidate is constantly looking for ways to attack Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump.
And Chris Christie is in a frenzy over what Donald Trump said about him in New Hampshire.
Trump snarks about Christie’s weight
Chris Christie has long been the fodder of jokes, particularly when it comes to his weight.
But Donald Trump pulled no punches during a speaking appearance at a rally in New Hampshire this week.
During the event, Trump said that “Christie, he’s eating right now. He can’t be bothered.”
The former President also looked out at a member of the crowd and told him “sir, please do not call him a fat pig. That’s very disrespectful. Don’t call him. See, I’m trying to be nice.”
In a post on social media, Christie responded by saying that “if you had the guts, you would show up to the debate and say it to my face.”
But although Christie said he’d like to address the jabs during an official debate, the odds are unlikely that it will happen.
Trump has hinted that he might pass on appearing in the first of many GOP Presidential debates, but that remains to be seen.
Christie slammed Trump during a town hall meeting that took place 66 miles away from where the former President held his rally in New Hampshire.
“Our poor New York City billionaire, so picked on,” Christie said during his own event. “Literally the same time I’m walking around Ukraine, he’s waltzing into a courtroom in Washington, D.C. to tell us he’s being indicted for us. How lucky are we that we have such a selfless, magnanimous leader?”
The comments garnered some light chuckles from the audience of approximately 200 people who attended the event at Colby Sawyer College.
This isn’t the first time that Trump and Christie have come to political blows, as the former New Jersey Governor lost to him during the 2016 election.
At one time, Christie was a Trump ally, but today he’s a “Never-Trumper” and one of his loudest critics.
A debate still hangs in the balance
Although Chris Christie dared Donald Trump to say his comments about his weight to his face during the first debate, it’s still uncertain as to whether Trump will attend.
Trump has been saying that his impressive lead in the polls is a good enough reason to skip making an appearance at the debate.
The latest Morning Consult poll showed Trump at 59 percent in New Hampshire compared to Christie’s three percent.
But a new poll of New Hampshire GOP voters shows Christie tied in second place with Ron DeSantis.
Only time will tell whether Trump and Christie will hash things out face to face on the debate stage.
