Chris Christie calls Donald Trump a “three-time loser” and tells voters to “beware”
Chris Christie just made it clear that he intends to be a major frontrunner for the GOP nomination in 2024. The former Governor of New Jersey made his announcement at a New Hampshire town hall last month.
“I intend to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2024, and I want your support,” he told the audience at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. He took a veiled swipe at Trump by warning voters to “beware” of his opponent.
Since then, he has gone on the attack against the former President, even calling him a “three-time loser.” Christie said he wants to prevent the country and the Republican Party from making the same mistake again with Trump.
But Christie just made a catastrophic decision.
Christie: Medically transitioning children should be done with “parental support…and love”
In a recent interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, the anchor decided to wade into the transgender topic with the former Governor. Tapper brought up how a lot of “Republican Governors across the country have been banning [medical transitioning] for transgender people under 18” and asked Christie where he stood on the issue.
Christie said this was an issue of “parental involvement” and that he does not believe “the government should ever be stepping into the place of the parents in helping to move their children through a process where those children are confused or concerned about their gender.”
He then doubled down, adding “the fact is that folks who are under the age of 18 should have parental support and guidance and love as they make all the key decisions of their life, and this should not be one that’s excluded by the government in any way.”
This is a long-standing position for Christie.
Christie is going against the cultural standards of conservatives
Acting as Governor of New Jersey, Christie swam against the current cultural trends in his own Party. While the nation was debating the issue of transgender minors choosing which bathroom to use, Christie signed a bill that completely removed all gender requirements for restrooms in schools.
The recent decisions by Governors to ban medically transitioning children is not only a moral decision, but also a key point for Republican voters in the United States. Christie stands as the lone Republican candidate who supports child mutilation.
Donald Trump has continuously pushed back on the woke transgender ideology. “No serious country should be telling its children that they were born with the wrong gender,” Trump said, before promising that “under [his] leadership, this madness will end.”
