Chuck Schumer is dealing with more problems than he can handle.
But this might be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
And Chuck Schumer was hit with devastating news that had him preparing for the worst.
Vulnerable Montana Democrat Senator is in deep trouble
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is heading into Election Day with a slim 51-49 majority.
Republicans need to flip two seats to regain control of the Upper Chamber.
Seat 50 for Republicans will almost certainly be West Virginia after U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) decided not to run for re-election.
Montana is the Senate race that could decide which party is in control next year.
U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) is the endangered Democrat up for re-election in Montana.
He’s been able to defy political gravity in heavily Republican Montana as the last Democrat elected to statewide office.
This year it looks like his luck could run out.
Tester’s Republican Senate challenger, former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy, started the year down in the polls as a first-time candidate with no name recognition.
A new poll from American Pulse Research and Polling found Sheehy leading Tester by a 50.8% to 44.7% margin with almost 4% undecided.
Sheehy has an advantage on the most important issues for voters in the poll.
“While there’s still a lot of time before Election Day, it appears Montana could be on the cusp of delivering a Republican Majority in the U.S. Senate,” American Pulse pollster Dustin Olson said. “Likely driving this result, Montanans chose ‘Economy and Inflation’ as their #1 Issue and that they trust Tim Sheehy to handle it better than Senator Jon Tester.”
The top issues for voters in the poll were the economy and inflation, affordable housing, and immigration and the border.
Sheehy had a 56.2% to 39% advantage over Tester on who voters trusted to handle immigration.
Tester has been trying to run TV ads touting his support for border security after he voted consistently against former President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda.
Most red state Democrat Senators start to slip in the polls much later in the cycle than Tester.
The charade is coming to an end for Jon Tester
Tester, like every red state Democrat, talks like a moderate back home but is a down-the-line leftist in Washington, D.C.
He developed a phony persona to give the appearance that he’s a down-to-earth moderate.
Trump traveled to Bozeman, Montana, for a rally where he eviscerated Tester for this terrible voting record.
“Tester, everyone thinks he’s like my best friend. He’s never for me once, and yet his commercials are ‘I like Donald Trump very much,’” Trump recalled.
“He votes against us 100% of the time, he’s voted in favor of Joe Biden 100% of the time,” Trump said. “He did it last time with the election, we had the same problem. You remember he comes out everyone saying he really likes your policy a lot. He does it like he’s a radical Left lunatic, just like Kamala.”
Trump is expected to win again in Montana after he won the state by 16 points in the 2020 Election.
Jon Tester has to hope that tens of thousands of Trump voters pick him on their ballots or else he’s toast.
