The CNN town hall with Donald Trump did not turn out as expected.
But after such a poor performance, CNN’s latest announcement left many Americans scratching their heads.
And CNN just promoted this leftist hack to a permanent position after Trump ran circles around her.
CNN CEO Chris Licht had already set into motion the plan to announce that host Kaitlan Collins will take over the network’s 9 PM ET primetime slot, which was previously held by disgraced former host Chris Cuomo.
But the announcement came at a very strange time.
Kaitlan Collins’ promotion through the CNN ranks is happening after she hosted what many on the Left have described as a “disastrous” town hall in New Hampshire with former President Donald Trump.
Speaking about what went down at the forum, a CNN spokesperson said that “tonight, Kaitlan Collins exemplified what it means to be a world-class journalist. She asked tough, fair, and revealing questions. And she followed up and fact-checked President Trump in real time to arm voters with crucial information about his positions as he enters the 2024 election as the Republican frontrunner. That is CNN’s role and responsibility: to get answers and hold the powerful to account.”
But despite the network’s spin, what happened wasn’t quite what the spokesperson presented.
Over three-million viewers were treated to an hour of ineffective partisan badgering of the former President.
While Trump supporters were gleeful at how he dispatched Collins with ease, many on the Left were seething.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) blasted the network for hosting the event.
“CNN should be ashamed of themselves,” she wrote in a tweet. “They have lost total control of this ‘town hall’ to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.”

“This falls squarely on CNN,” she continued. “Everyone here saw exactly what was going to happen. Instead, they put a sexual abuse victim in harm’s way for views. This was a choice to platform lies about the election & Jan 6th w/ no plan but to have their moderator interrupted without consequence.”
CNN’s audience during the forum was its largest in years, but the tougher feat will be to sustain it now that the network’s leftist base is triggered and upset.
Only time will tell if the network can reverse the fortunes of the last two years.
