The world has been watching the conflict in eastern Europe for over six months now.
People have been wondering if and when the conflict might spread beyond eastern Ukraine.
Now an unspeakable act of sabotage has occurred, and Donald Trump suggests he might step in.
US denies involvement in the “deliberate act” of sabotage in Baltic Sea
When the Nord Stream 2 pipeline damage was discovered, it shocked the world.
European Union representatives spoke out quickly calling it a “deliberate act” and vowing to investigate what they believed to be sabotage.
Videos circulated on social media of Biden and a representative at the US State Department promising an end to the pipeline in the event of a Russian invasion to Ukraine.
Even Trump commented on the video of Biden.
He posted the clip along with his comments on Truth Social, “Wow, what a statement. WWIII anyone?”
The White House denied allegations that the US was involved in sabotage and accused the Kremlin of war time propaganda.
In either case, Russia thinks or wants the world to think that we did it and America should be prepared for a dramatic escalation in the conflict.
European energy crisis will worsen and Trump warns it could escalate to war
Donald Trump was quick to comment on the disaster.
He said though the hurricane in Florida was important the event in the Baltic Sea was “perhaps a far more important event in the longer term.”
Trump urged the White House, “U.S. ‘Leadership’ should remain ‘cool, calm, and dry’ on the SABOTAGE of the Nord Stream Pipelines. This is a big event that should not entail a big solution, at least not yet . . . Do not make matters worse with the pipeline blowup.”
According to the former President any wrong moves at this point “could lead to major escalation, or War!”
Now with Russia pointing to the US as a culprit and the US pointing to Russia – Europe has been left in a very precarious situation.
The continent has been looking for peace since February when Russia’s invasion began.
Trump is reminding everyone that he warned Europe of the danger posed by relying so much on Russia for their natural gas.
Trump says he brought the issue “to the World’s attention as President,” when he “explained how crippling the reliance on it could be for Germany and other parts of Europe.”
They’re already in an energy crisis with some countries paying double what they have in the past to keep their lights on.
Now they’re on the precipice of something much worse and it might not be isolated to Europe.
Trump suggests he might get involved to ensure US leadership is strategic in response
It’s hard to imagine the situation could get much worse.
But the U.S. is still waiting to see the response from Russia considering they are alleging U.S. involvement.
According to Trump the U.S. needs to “be strategic, be smart (brilliant!),” and to “get a negotiated deal done NOW,” because “both sides need and want it. The entire World is at stake.”
Suggesting we need smart and strategic leadership to get the deal done he threw out the idea of leading the team himself as a special envoy.
Trump certainly wouldn’t be the first former President to step in and calm down an international conflict.
President Carter helped put an end to conflict on the Korean peninsula in 1994 when Bill Clinton couldn’t get the job done.
Hopefully peace will replace conflict in eastern Europe before it spreads to other sections of the globe.
Only time will tell how this will all come to an end.
