Trump’s meeting stood out because Gibson is the number-one promoter of the hit movie, The Sound of Freedom.
In a summer where big budget franchises like Indiana Jones and The Flash tanked at the box office, the success of The Sound of Freedom stands out as one of the few industry bright spots.
The Sound of Freedom raked in $40 million during its opening weekend thanks to promotion from Gibson, who pleaded with Americans to see this movie about the evils of child sex trafficking.

The Sound of Freedom tells the true story of Tim Ballard staging a rescue mission of over 50 children from a child sex-trafficking ring in South America.
Ballard later founded Operation Underground Railroad to rescue children held in slavery.
Passion of the Christ star Jim Caviezel plays Ballard in the movie.
Producers shot the movie on a $14 million budget, meaning the $40 million opening weekend made it a financial smash hit.
But the fact that the movie succeeded terrified the media, who smeared the film as “QAnon” and tried to downplay the evils of child sex trafficking by claiming the movie spoke to a fringe minority.
Disney sat on the film for years and media outlets refused to review the movie.
Despite this attempt to suppress the film, it turned into the runaway surprise hit of 2023 because its message resonated with the public.
