President Biden has made it his mission to erase as much of his predecessor’s legacy as possible.
And Biden’s latest policy move has Donald Trump furious.
The Biden administration is proposing the reversal of the Trump era’s conscience rule.
The rule made it so healthcare workers couldn’t be forced to perform services contradicting their religious or moral beliefs – such as abortions or gender reassignment surgery.
The move is a blatant slap in the face to religious freedom and liberty in the United States – two of the principles that brought people to the continent in the first place.
The Washington Examiner is reporting President Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services is expected to formally announce the rule change within the month.
“The rescission is under review at the Office of Management and Budget, which supervises federal agencies and administers the federal budget,” Washington Examiner reporter Cassidy Morrison wrote.
Then-President Donald Trump introduced the rule back in 2018.
However, it’s been held up by court challenges, and thus, never has been fully implemented.
The American Civil Liberties Union – which claims to support civil rights like religious freedom – was against the conscience rule from the moment Trump announced it.
“Everyone is entitled to their religious beliefs,” the ACLA wrote in a statement. “But religious beliefs do not include a license to discriminate, to deny essential care, or to cause harm to others.”
How a nurse, for example, not being forced to assist with a gender reassignment surgery causes any harm to anyone is a mystery – especially considering the nurse next to her would be invited to step right into her place.
Biden has made reversing Trump Era policies and executive orders a priority in his presidency.
In fact, in his first week in office, Biden issued more than three dozen executive actions overturning a wide range of Trump policies.
Just some of the Trump policies Biden has reversed include: the ban on federal funds going to cover abortions both here in America and abroad, the ban on transgenders serving in the U.S. military, ban on travel from a select group of Muslim countries with poor to no screening processes in place, and many more.
