Elon Musk has been the Chief Twit at Twitter for a little over a week now and things are getting interesting.
Radical left-wing activists have come out in droves opposing his new verification policy leading to some extraordinary tactics.
But Elon Musk just did one thing that left Trump fans everywhere cheering.
Kathy Griffin finally removed from Twitter five years after infamous anti-Trump tweet
In 2017, Kathy Griffin shocked Twitter by sharing an image of her holding up President Donald Trump’s bloodied, severed head.
What was even more disgusting about this whole ordeal was how Twitter handled it.
Despite the political outrage, the company did nothing at the time.
Griffin ended up feeling the heat from the public at large and then deleted the photo with an apology. “I’m sorry I went too far. I was wrong.”
Now Griffin finally got the boot five years later for impersonating Elon Musk.
She knew what she was doing and had been trolling Musk over his new $8 verification policy.
Over the weekend, people started to impersonate his account and he issued a warning, “going forward any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.”
Musk was just reiterating a rule that was already part of the terms.
Griffin gets permanent suspension and then uses deceased mother’s account
Griffin then changed her profile name to Elon Musk and copied the picture from his profile image.
Then she wrote under his name, “I’ve decided that voting blue for their choice is only right.”
This got retweeted many times before she was finally shut down.
Impersonating Elon Musk is one thing, but to claim that he is voting for a party and that he endorses anything in the abortion debate is radical.
Griffin was promptly suspended.
Shortly after the suspension she returned under her deceased mother’s account and tried to impersonate Musk again.
She’s had a hard time bringing herself back to relevance and it’s hard to say any of this will help.
Musk will put free speech before everything even his own personal safety
Now to answer the question of why these people are so angry with him being in charge of Twitter.
Musk has big plans for Twitter and he’s going full steam ahead.
He’s not in it to hurt free speech on the platform and has made that abundantly clear.
He even has claimed he is putting his own personal safety at risk in the name of free speech.
He said his commitment “extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk.”
Musk says he’s trying to “democratize journalism” and get rid of the “lords & peasants” system
Musk also thinks “Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bulls***,” and he’s looking to change that by charging $8 per month for verification.
Musk claims the idea of charging monthly for verification is an effort to “democratize journalism” and Twitter itself.
He hopes that it will extend the protections of verification to everyone and to make the company less reliant on advertisers.
He’s trying to return the power to the people and make Twitter the product – not its users.
