Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter in late 2022 was not taken lightly by anyone in the establishment.

The Biden administration, Democrat lawmakers, and some Twitter employees had concerns about Musk.

And Elon Musk just revealed bombshell details about the relationship between Twitter and the federal government.

Twitter Files have brought evidence of deep collusion between government and tech companies

When the Twitter Files started to drop in December of last year, there was no telling where it would all lead. The documentation of Big Tech and Big Government colluding began to pile on, but at first it was too staggering for most people to even consider.

Evidence of collusion pointed to the DNC and Joe Biden’s campaign for President and the need to remove anything related to Hunter Biden’s many scandals.  They covered for Hunter Biden when he was seen weighing and smoking crack. Company emails showed the requests came from the Biden team.

It also became clear that Twitter was suppressing the reach of conservatives by a method called shadow-banning. This would push prominent right-wing accounts down on the search feature and sometimes remove them entirely.

The malfeasance wasn’t relegated to political campaigns, but was used widely by the FBI to monitor speech and delete accounts.

Now Elon Musk just told Tucker Carlson that the Bureau’s capabilities went well beyond reading public comments.

Musk said the depth of the relationship between federal agencies and Twitter “blew” his mind

Musk sat down for a two-part interview with Carlson on Tucker Carlson Tonight. In the interview, the new Twitter owner said that he was shocked when he found out everything that was going on between the federal government and the company he acquired.

“The degree to which government agencies effectively had full access to everything that was going on on Twitter blew my mind,” he told Carlson.  Many people have speculated that he must have known about these relationships, but he claimed that he “was not aware.”

Musk then dropped a bombshell when Carlson asked him if their access went beyond publicly available information. “Would that include people’s [Direct Messages]?” he asked.

“Yes,” Musk responded.

Since this was the first public acknowledgement that government agencies could access private communications between users on the platform, it must have been difficult for Musk to admit. This is likely going to result in a large amount of outrage and further investigations.

Federal agencies are already under a Congressional microscope and this will add to their legal woes.

This is just another piece of evidence that Big Tech is an “instrument of censorship”

The Big Tech/Big Government relationship has already been the center of Congressional hearings focusing on the weaponization of the federal government. In early March, the subcommittee in charge of these hearings interviewed a journalist involved in the release of the Twitter Files.

Substack journalist Matt Taibbi warned in his opening statement that the internet and social media companies have become “an instrument of censorship and control and our government seems to be playing a central role.”

He spoke about evidence he had seen that “Twitter, Facebook, Google, and other companies developed a formal system for taking in moderation ‘requests’ from every corner of the government: the FBI, DHS, HHS, DOD, the Global Engagement Center at State, and even the CIA.”

In the hearing, Jim Jordan said it sounded like a “cozy relationship” and promised to hold the various agencies and social media companies accountable. The most recent disclosure by Musk will surely throw fuel on the fire.
