Cartoons and memes as a form of political satire is American as Apple Pie.
We have been using these forms of satire as a way of making a point for a long time.
But England is not the only place where memes are criminal.
England is Cracking Down on Jokes
The United Kingdom (UK) just started a new program where they are cracking down on memes and tweets that the police claim are insensitive.
The battle began after an immigrant attacked and killed three young girls on their way to dance class.
People have been upset by the wave of immigration in the UK for a while, but the latest incident set off major street demonstrations.
The police cracked down on the UK citizens, but they were fairly lenient on counter demonstrations by Muslim immigrants.
The government announced that it would begin a new campaign to crack down on “hate speech,” especially memes and tweets that were reported as being insensitive.
But the government has really been cracking down on any opposition to its program of mass immigration.
The Crack Down on Memes in the U.S.
But this is not just happening in Great Britain.
In the United States, Doug Mackey was sentenced to seven months in federal prison for a joke meme he posted in 2016.
For years, people have joked that you could avoid the lines at the polling place by showing up the day after the election.
That was until the Justice Department decided that this joke tweet was “election interference” and arrested Mackey.
The tweet was a joke about “voting by text message.”
This was the beginning of a crackdown on free speech by the government.
The criminal charges were filed during the largest government censorship operation in history.
The Biden administration then targeted pro-life activists and Donald Trump.
An Old Law Sees New Life
U.S. law 18 USC 241 was updated in 1948 and was used against the KKK when they conspired to take away the rights of black citizens.
The statute is designed to stop people from getting together to plot to take away the rights of their fellow citizens through threats and intimidation.
This is the statute that was used against Mackey.
The government claimed that the joke meme was a conspiracy to deprive citizens of their right to vote.
This statute has now been weaponized by the Biden-Harris administration to go after their political opponents.
The law was also invoked against Texas Trump supporters who drove next to the Biden bus with a Trump flag during the election of 2020.
They have been caught up in the court process for four years by the same legal team that went after Donald Trump.
The Department of Justice now believes that anyone they perceive as a threat is guilty of depriving others of their rights.
In some cases, this means ignoring preferred pronouns, pointing out the problem of illegal immigration, protesting at abortion clinics, or making a harmless joke.
If the Biden-Harris administration prevails in this case, then they will be able to continue their lawfare attack on their political opponents.
