Hunter Biden found himself in the middle of another mess of his own making.

There was only one way out of this mess.

And Hunter Biden just surrendered in this massive legal dispute.

Hunter Biden lawyer Abbe Lowell announced that his client would no longer resist efforts to testify before Congress.

Lowell wrote to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and informed them that Hunter Biden would sit for a closed door deposition if they issued a new subpoena.

“Consequently, the November 8 and 9, 2023, deposition subpoenas to Mr. Biden and the contempt resolutions approved by your committees on January 10, 2024, based on those subpoenas were and are legally invalid. You have not explained why you are not interested in transparency and having the American people witness the full and complete testimony of Mr. Biden at a public hearing,” Lowell wrote.

“If you issue a new proper subpoena, now that there is a duly authorized impeachment inquiry, Mr. Biden will comply for a hearing or deposition. We will accept such a subpoena on Mr. Biden’s behalf,” Lowell added.

Biden’s surrender came on the heels of the House Oversight Committee passing a motion to hold a floor vote recommending Hunter Biden to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution on charges of Contempt of Congress for defying a lawful subpoena to testify in a closed-door deposition back in December.

The Biden Justice Department previously prosecuted Trump advisors Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro on Contempt of Congress charges.

Republicans warned that a failure to enforce an equal standard of justice against Hunter Biden would result in further articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland and possibly even Joe Biden.

For their part, Comer and Jordan responded with a statement that said Republicans would continue with the Contempt of Congress referral until Hunter Biden agreed to testify on a specific date.

“For now, the House of Representatives will move forward with holding Hunter Biden in Contempt of Congress until such time that Hunter Biden confirms a date to appear for a private deposition in accordance with his legal obligation,” Comer and Jordan wrote.

Hunter Biden saw the writing on the wall.

He and his lawyers thought the weaponized Biden Justice Department would prove to be their firewall in this case.

But it turned out to be the pressure point needed to make Hunter Biden comply with the impeachment inquiry into his father.
