Hollywood celebrities are constantly spouting woke left-wing nonsense.
Movie stars are expected to be mouthpieces for the Left’s radical agenda.
But this time it took all of two seconds for actress Jennifer Lawrence’s latest “woke” lie to fall completely apart.
Democrats thrive on grievance politics.
They look for groups who have been aggrieved in the past, and they use that grievance as a justification for more power.
The problem with grievance politics is that grievances must be kept at the front of mind at all times.
That’s why Democrats are always talking about how American society is supposedly the most “racist” it’s ever been when the opposite is true.
Democrats also scour the past in search of grievances to highlight or relitigate in the court of public opinion.
One of the consequences of this is that actual societal progress must be downplayed or memory-holed altogether in order to amplify the hysteria over the grievance.
This is the trade that actress Jennifer Lawrence fell into during a recent discussion with fellow actress Viola Davis.
“I remember when I was doing ‘Hunger Games,’ nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work — because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead,” Lawrence claimed. “And it just makes me so happy every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every one of those beliefs, and proves that it is just a lie to keep certain people out of the movies. To keep certain people in the same positions that they’ve always been in.”

The Hunger Games was released in 2012, so it did not take much effort for people to point out the decades of action films with female leads that came before it.
“Critics on social media quickly pounced on Lawrence’s comments, noting that several other women have starred as leads in action films — including Sigourney Weaver in the ‘Alien’ films; Angelina Jolie in ‘Salt’ and ‘Tomb Raider’; Uma Thurman in ‘Kill Bill: Volume 1’ and ‘Kill Bill: Volume 2’; and Michelle Yeoh in several films, including ‘Supercop,’ ‘Magnificent Warriors’ and ‘Yes, Madam!’” NBC News reported. “Variety appeared to delete a tweet it had posted promoting Lawrence’s comments after several Twitter users noted the inaccuracy of her statement.”

There have been many more action films with female leads that came out before Lawrence was even born.
Since Lawrence was born in 1990, perhaps it’s excusable that she didn’t know films from the 1970s or 1980s, but the film Haywire with Gina Carano came out the year before The Hunger Games.
The Left have to bulldoze accomplishments in order to keep their grievance politics alive.
