Jaws hit the floor after this groundbreaking testimony on government censorship

Dwight D. Eisenhower warned the American public after World War II about the long term effects of what he called the “military industrial complex.”

Today, the military industrial complex is as strong as ever and has also transformed into a censorship industrial complex.

But jaws hit the floor after this groundbreaking testimony on government censorship.

The federal government’s censorship capabilities fly in the face of American values

When it comes to domestic threats to American democracy, few are as concerning as the federal government’s censorship infrastructure.

Nearly everything posted online is monitored by the federal government and anything that does not fall in line with their agenda has the potential to be red-flagged.

Although this may seem Orwellian, it is the standard operating procedure of the federal government.

Thanks to the work of independent journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger, Americans are waking up to the extent to which the federal government is engaged in this scheme.

Last Thursday, Michael Shellenberger testified on “The Twitter Files” at a hearing with the Judiciary Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

“The bar for bringing in military-grade government monitoring and speech-countering techniques has moved from ‘countering terrorism’ to ‘countering extremism’ to ‘countering simple misinformation,’” Shellenberger said. “Otherwise known as being wrong on the internet.”

He added that “the government no longer needs the predicate of calling you a terrorist or an extremist to deploy government resources to counter your political activity. The only predicate it needs is the assertion that the opinion you expressed on social media is wrong.”

Shellenberger ended by saying that “Congress should immediately cut off funding to the censors and investigate their activities. They should mandate instant reporting of all conversations between social media executives and government employees and government contractors concerning content moderation. And finally, Congress should limit the broad permission given to social media platforms to censor, de-platform, and spread propaganda.”

These damning claims from Shellenberger sent the radical Left into a fit of rage, with Congressional Delegate Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands attacking him as a “so-called” journalist.

These statements from Shellenberger infuriate the Left because it finally shines a light on their dubious efforts to silence their political enemies.

Congress ought to take these warnings about government censorship very seriously

These warnings from Shellenberger indicate that the federal government has engaged in the censorship of Americans for quite some time.

Attacks on free speech must be taken very seriously.

However, the cavalier way that Democrats are responding to these claims show they may be directly involved.

Identifying the culprits of these censorship cases is very important to the future of the First Amendment.

These investigations are far from over and in the near future Americans should have a better idea of who is behind this madness.

But since freedom of speech is one of America’s most sacred values, House Republicans must not give up in this fight to protect it.
