Donald Trump has faced numerous sham investigations over the years.
The Durham Report exposed the level that the FBI was willing to go to try to stop the former President.
Now Jim Jordan just vowed to take this one major action to end the weaponization of the FBI against Donald Trump.
Jim Jordan is concerned that the “FBI’s bias and reckless disregard” will not abate in Trump probes
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) took a major step toward ensuring that the FBI does not continue to meddle in politics. Jordan launched a probe into Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into former President Donald Trump.
Trump has been under a Special Counsel investigation since November of last year. Smith was put in charge of determining if Trump broke any laws relating to the Presidential Records Act. Attorney General Garland only appointed Smith after Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago was raided by the FBI.
Jordan said that the Durham Report has shown “the extent of the FBI’s bias and reckless disregard for truth.” He said Special Counsel Durham exposed “in painstaking detail” the “scandalous” actions of the FBI. Jordan said he would like to ensure this corruption does not continue.
And he put Garland and the FBI on notice.
Jordan said “institutional rot” continues to infect the FBI and “public trust” is low
Jordan submitted a letter last week issuing a blistering warning to Garland to keep an eye on his agency. “Due to the FBI’s documented political bias, the Justice Department must ensure any ongoing investigations are not poisoned by this same politicization,” he wrote.
He said that Garland should be aware that “public trust in the FBI is low.” He questioned the “corrective measures” that FBI leadership claims to have made and said it was clear that it has “done nothing to address, let alone cure, the institutional rot that pervades the FBI.”
Jordan contended that the actions taking place at the FBI are an existential threat to the agency. He said “it is clear that Congress must consider legislative reforms to the FBI, and the Committee has been engaged in robust oversight to inform those legislative proposals.”
He then told Garland what the Committee expects of him and the Department of Justice.
Jordan is seeking to prevent the continuation of the Donald Trump witch hunts
The letter told the Attorney General to “provide information about the use of FBI personnel by Special Counsel Jack Smith.” The Committee wants to know everyone involved, whether they are at FBI Headquarters, the Washington Field Office, or in any other capacity.
It also asked if “any FBI employees who have worked on Special Counsel Smith’s investigation previously worked on any other matters concerning President Trump.” They also wanted to know if any of the investigation “relies on any information gathered prior to” Smith’s appointment.
Jordan finished the letter by stating that “the Committee is authorized to conduct oversight of the Department of Justice and the FBI.” He made it clear that the weaponization of the FBI and the intelligence apparatus will not be tolerated any longer.
