It’s beyond clear that the Secret Service is responsible for one of the most catastrophic and inconceivable security failures in American history.
But there may be far more going on than meets the eye.
And Josh Hawley unleashed bedlam by exposing one fact about the Secret Service’s failure to protect Donald Trump.

With the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, at least one government bureaucrat has been held accountable for the catastrophic failure that nearly cost former President Donald Trump his life.
Of course, this is only scratching the surface of the repercussions that should be on the way for the agency’s failed leadership.
But it’s certainly a start.
Nevertheless, even with Cheatle’s resignation, there are still an untold number of unanswered questions about the events of that day and the decision-making ahead of the rally.
Fortunately, courageous whistleblowers from inside the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security are boldly coming forward to expose key details that will ultimately help bring the truth to light.
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) recently penned a scathing letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas where he demanded answers about truly jaw-dropping revelations made to him by whistleblowers.
“I write to raise concerns brought to me by whistleblowers about your department’s stunning failure to protect former President Trump on July 13, 2024,” Hawley wrote to Mayorkas. “As Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), you are ultimately responsible for your agency and its components, including the U.S. Secret Service (USSS).”
Senator Hawley proceeded to lay out the whistleblowers’ allegations, which included the revelation that the Butler Trump rally was deemed a “loose” security event that did not include the use of detection canines.
They also allowed individuals backstage without proper designations and the security personnel were not properly stationed around the perimeter.
“According to the allegations, the July 13 rally was considered to be a ‘loose’ security event,” Hawley explained. “For example, detection canines were not used to monitor entry and detect threats in the usual manner. Individuals without proper designations were able to gain access to backstage areas. Department personnel did not appropriately police the security buffer around the podium and were also not stationed at regular intervals around the event’s security perimeter.”
But the biggest bombshell of all came when Hawley noted that “most” of the security personnel assigned to the Trump rally were not even actual Secret Service agents.
Numbers never lie
Instead, Trump’s security detail was primarily staffed by “unprepared and inexperienced” personnel from within DHS’ Homeland Security Investigations Unit.
“Whistleblowers tell me that MOST of Trump’s security detail working the event last Saturday were not even Secret Service,” Hawley wrote. “DHS assigned unprepared and inexperienced personnel.”
As the Missouri Senator noted, “this is especially concerning given that HSI agents were unfamiliar with standard protocols typically used at these types of events.”
“Unfortunately, your department has not been appropriately forthcoming with Members of Congress — abruptly ending the only call with USSS before most senators could even ask a question,” Hawley added. “This is completely unacceptable and contrary to the public’s interest in transparency.”
The Secret Service receives more than $3 billion in taxpayer funding per year and the Department of Homeland Security receives nearly $190 billion annually.
The idea that they didn’t have enough “resources” and therefore had no choice but to send a bunch of DHS desk jockeys with zero experience or training is utter poppycock.
As has been confirmed by several of the Democrats’ media allies, the Secret Service had previously turned down numerous requests to increase the level of protection around Trump.
In the end, the Secret Service knew full well that the level of protection they were providing the former President was nowhere near adequate.
But even though they knew that and had identified the shooter as a “threat” well ahead of time, they still let Donald Trump on the stage.
