The honeymoon is coming to an end for Kamala Harris.
She has a bumpy road ahead as the campaign enters its next phase.
And Kevin O’Leary revealed one big problem facing Kamala Harris that will change everything.
Kevin O’Leary warns the economy is now a problem
Vice President Kamala Harris has led a charmed life since she entered the Presidential race.
The media is running puff pieces about her and she’s become the new darling for celebrities.
Harris has avoided questions from the press and hasn’t laid out any serious proposals.
She’s riding on the sugar high from the honeymoon period to her campaign.
But turbulence in the stock market and recession fears are changing the political dynamics of the race.
O’Leary Ventures chairman Kevin O’Leary – one of the stars of ABC’s Shark Tank – warned that the economy was now going to be a serious factor in the election during an appearance on the Fox Business show The Evening Edit.
“Even the most bearish economists right now don’t see more than a 50/50 [recession] chance,” O’Leary said. ‘So I’m still in the soft landing camp. But, policy is now becoming a risk with investors.”
O’Leary noted that the mood changed after the global stock market rout that began when the Japanese Nikkei index had its biggest single-day drop since 1987’s “Black Monday” selloff.
“After August 7, when the happy days are over, then there’s risk,” O’Leary explained. “And, of course, we need to see [Kamala Harris] move to the center.”
A dismal July jobs report and slowing manufacturing activity added to the economic anxiety.
Fears grow about Kamala Harris managing the economy
O’Leary told Fox Business that he’s spoken to Republicans and Democrats about their economic agenda.
“I talked to some people, including those who’ve been advising Harris in the last 14 days, and they don’t see any reason to come and talk to the press yet. They’re still in the happy phase, and they’re killing it in fundraising,” O’Leary said.
The Shark Tank star, a native of Canada, said Harris was following the path of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“Go back up to Canada years ago when Justin Trudeau never gave any policy, never gave any press interviews, and he just kept telling everybody, ‘Don’t worry, it’s sunny ways.’ And he got elected with a landslide. And boy, was that a mistake for Canadians,” O’Leary stated.
O’Leary said that if Harris followed Trudeau’s path, then she would decimate the economy.
“They got decimated. Turns out he had no executional skills. Does VP Harris have any executional skills?” O’Leary wondered. “She has a double-whammy challenge. She’s got to go to the center with policy. Everybody understands, including me and every other investor. And then, she’s got to convince everybody in those seven swing states: I can get the job done.”
“Because if you don’t know what you’re doing, because you’ve never executed anything and you don’t know how to do it, like the Trudeau story, you decimate your country,” O’Leary added.
Harris has released no major proposals on the economy since she entered the race.
But her socialist track record suggests that her goal is to turn the United States into California.
