Republicans are on edge with roughly two months left until Election Day.

Some GOP leaders are steering away from culture war issues and becoming more moderate.

But Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry just made it clear that he’s not backing down from the culture war.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry promises not to “quit” on culture war issues

In June, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry shocked the nation when he signed HB71 into law, which brought back an old practice to public schools in the state.

The law requires every government school to display the Ten Commandments.

The Republican Governor vowed to continue the fight for Christian cultural values with one simple statement.

“We don’t quit,” he said.

The ACLU and the Freedom from Religion Foundation quickly jumped on the announcement and vowed to stop Landry’s move.

“The First Amendment promises that we all get to decide for ourselves what religious beliefs, if any, to hold and practice, without pressure from the government,” they wrote in a joint statement. “Politicians have no business imposing their preferred religious doctrine on students and families.”

But Landry just proved that he really won’t quit.

Landry takes on the Left’s sacred cow—Critical Race Theory

The Louisiana Governor is now wading into the cultural battle around Critical Race Theory.

Landry just signed an executive order banning Critical Race Theory from being taught in K-12 government schools.

He described the curriculum as “divisive.”

“Critical Race Theory includes divisive teachings that instruct students to view life through the lens of race and victimhood,” his office said in a written statement.

They said Landry “believes students should be learning about American exceptionalism” and “recognize the equal value of every individual.”

“This executive order is a much-needed sigh of relief for parents and students across our state, especially as kids are heading back to school,” the Governor said.

Landry made it clear that teaching people they are “destined to be oppressed or to be an oppressor based on their race and origin is wrong.”

DeSantis made a way for states to take action on “radical indoctrination”

Landry isn’t the first U.S. Governor to ban Critical Race Theory in government schools.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis led the charge in 2021, and several states have followed in his footsteps.

DeSantis unveiled his “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees ACT” in December of 2021.

The bill ultimately passed both chambers of the Florida legislature in April of 2022 and took effect in July of that year.

“In Florida, we are taking a stand against the state-sanctioned racism that is Critical Race Theory,” he said at the bill’s announcement.

DeSantis vowed to stop the flow of Floridian tax dollars towards programs that would force radical indoctrination in schools and in the workplace.

“We won’t allow Florida tax dollars to be spent teaching kids to hate our country or hate each other,” he said.
