Merrick Garland came under fire late-2021 when they raided Project Veritas’ lead investigative journalist James O’Keefe.
This was the first high profile targeting of a journalist that came to light under the Biden administration and it shocked Americans.
Now Garland’s DOJ is under fire again after an ABC News journalist disappeared following a raid on his home in April of this year.
ABC News Journalist hasn’t been seen for six months following raid by Garland’s DOJ
It’s been six months since the FBI raided the home of James Gordon Meek and no one has seen him since.
Meek was the ABC News national security investigative producer and he was working on an expose on the U.S. military’s poorly executed withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
On April 27 his life changed and no one really knows for sure what happened.
One neighbor reported to Rolling Stone that he noticed a “black utility vehicle with blacked out windows blocking traffic” outside the reporter’s Arlington apartment.
He recalled “a few Arlington county cruisers” but otherwise the vehicles were unmarked.
The incident involved a Lenco BearCat, a strategic vehicle used by SWAT and the military.
His neighbor went on to say that agents “took off pretty quickly and headed west . . . towards Fairfax County,” in a vehicle that most people “would think it’s some kind of tank.”
One colleague says Meeks “fell off the face of the Earth”
Shortly after the raid, Meek disappeared.
His neighbors report that his apartment didn’t have anyone living there anymore.
According to Rolling Stone, the management of his apartment complex “declined to confirm that their longtime tenant was gone, citing ‘privacy policies.’”
Colleagues of Meek have reportedly said that they haven’t heard from him and don’t know where he went.
One described Meek as having “fell off the face of the Earth” and that anyone they had asked about him had no answers for them.
His former employer ABC said that “He resigned very abruptly and hasn’t worked for us for months.”
Some people who are close to Meek claim it was related to an investigatory piece he was working on – likely the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.
They say federal agents may have found classified information on his computer during the raid.
Meek’s lawyer says rumors about classified documents “appear to come” from in the government
His lawyer refuted these statements early on, “Mr. Meek is unaware of what allegations anonymous sources are making about his possession of classified documents.”
Adding that “if such documents exist, as claimed, this would be within the scope of his long career as an investigative journalist covering government wrongdoing.”
He called the rumors that the FBI took classified materials “troubling for a different reason” stating that the allegations “appear to come from a source inside the government.”
If proven that the allegations and rumors came from leaks, then it could result in an even bigger headache for Garland.
Meek’s lawyer said, “it is highly inappropriate, and illegal, for individuals in the government to leak information about an ongoing investigation.”
This wouldn’t be the first time that the DOJ has targeted a journalist under the Biden administration.
But if they did, then we must ask – where is James Gordon Meek?
