Crime and violence have exploded all across the nation since the death of George Floyd in 2020.
This is particularly true in Democrat-controlled cities like New Orleans, where lawmakers have made it much more difficult to apprehend violent criminals and hold them accountable.
But Merrick Garland is furious after a good guy with a gun saved the day in the dangerous city.
New Orleans is suffering at the hands of radical Democrats who are determined to destroy it
Long before the death of George Floyd in 2020, New Orleans had consistently ranked among the most dangerous cities in America.
But it only got worse after 2020, with shootings and violence happening on a daily basis.
Just last Monday, 23-year-old Gerald Pope attempted to rob a cab driver at gunpoint at roughly 1 a.m. in the morning.
However, to Pope’s demise, the cab driver was armed and fired back at him.
As a result, Pope was shot multiple times and eventually died from his injuries at the scene.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) spokesperson, Captain Jason Rivard, said that the cab driver will not face any charges for the shooting since it was a justifiable use of force.
Rivard went on to claim that he believes Gerald Pope was involved with at least two other recent armed robberies on cab drivers from the same company in the area.
The press, who are quick to make this into a scandal, pressed Rivard for not releasing this information sooner.
In response, Rivard told the press that “the sanctity of the criminal investigations comes before anything. In an investigation like this, ensuring that information about the shooting was not publicly available was very important.”
These types of crime have become very common across the nation, particularly in Democrat-controlled cities like New Orleans.
In 2022, the New Orleans Police Department announced that there were a total of 280 homicides, 482 shootings, 279 carjackings, and 541 robberies in the Big Easy.
These statistics make New Orleans one of the most dangerous cities in the nation, showing that the efforts by the city government to make it safer are not working.

The bottom line is that elected officials in cities like New Orleans are not concerned with the crime that is ravaging their community.
This means that it ultimately falls on the citizens to protect themselves.
If the cab driver in this shooting was not armed, then he could have easily been killed and victimized by Gerald Pope, who has a long history of attacking people.
In the long term, cities like New Orleans must start taking violent crime seriously if they hope to revitalize the many struggling communities under their control.
