Mike Pence and Donald Trump are in open warfare.
No one ever thought Pence would push things this far.
And now Mike Pence is about to take one big campaign step that will leave Donald Trump red with rage.
Donald Trump made one of his big political projects defeating Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp in the GOP Primary.
Trump endorsed former Senator David Perdue to run against Kemp.
Kemp angered Trump by certifying the results in Georgia during the 2020 election, which showed Joe Biden winning by about 12,000 votes.
Trump claimed that massive voter fraud handed Biden the state, and that Kemp should have rejected the fraudulent results.
But polls show Kemp leading Perdue by a significant enough margin that he is likely to win outright in the Primary and avoid a runoff election.
And now Mike Pence is looking to jump on the bandwagon and twist the knife a little deeper by holding a rally with Kemp the day before the election.
POLITICO reports, “Former Vice President Mike Pence will hold a rally with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on the eve of his GOP primary — Pence’s most aggressive political move yet in defiance of his former patron and ticket-mate, former President Donald Trump.”
“The event comes ahead of the May 24 primary pitting Kemp against Trump-endorsed David Perdue, the former senator who is running for governor. The former president has made Kemp one of his top Republican targets of the midterm election, attacking him mercilessly ever since Kemp refused to intervene and overturn Georgia’s vote count during the 2020 election, when the state went narrowly for President Joe Biden,” the report added.
Pence praised Kemp in a statement accompanying the rally announcement.
“Brian Kemp is my friend, a man dedicated to faith, family and the people of Georgia,” Pence declared. “I am proud to offer my full support for four more years of Brian Kemp as Governor of the great state of Georgia.”
Kemp did hand conservatives significant wins in Georgia.
The Governor signed legislation banning abortions after six weeks, as well as Constitutional Carry, which eliminated the requirement to obtain a permit to conceal carry a firearm.
But the establishment saw the Georgia Gubernatorial Primary as a chance to weaken Donald Trump.
Former RINO President George W. Bush also held an event for Kemp.
And Pence endorsing Kemp and going head-to-head with Trump shows he is plotting running for President in 2024 against Donald Trump in the GOP Primary.
