Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden have had a strong personal friendship over the years.
But after Joe Biden’s terrible performance in the first debate, Pelosi was wondering if he could still defeat Donald Trump.
And Nancy Pelosi just made one stunning confession about throwing Joe Biden under the bus.
The Palace Coup Begins
Even though polls showed that Biden was losing support and many Americans did not think he was capable of being President, the Democrat elite and their allies in the media kept up the narrative that he was on top of everything.
Then the debate happened in June and the narrative fell off the rails.
Everyone suddenly started calling for Joe Biden to step down and not run for reelection.
At first, Biden refused.
He sent a letter to high level Democrats on July 8, but that is when Pelosi went nuts.
She was convinced at that point that someone else was controlling Biden.
She didn’t think the letter she received sounded anything like the Joe Biden she knew.
The Daily Mail reported that “in the letter, Biden stated that he was ‘firmly committed’ to remaining in the race against Donald Trump as he sought to head-off calls to step aside following his disastrous debate performance and increasingly dismal polling.”
Even though Biden expressed his commitment to run, Pelosi chose to ignore the letter and made statements that sounded like the President still had not made up his mind.
This has put considerable strain on Biden and Pelosi’s relationship.
Pelosi’s Goal is Simple – Defeat Trump at All Costs
Pelosi told the New York Times that her only goal in 2024 is to defeat Donald Trump.
She wasn’t going to let friendship get in the way of her goal.
She told the Times that “when you make a decision to defeat somebody, you make every decision in favor of that. You don’t mess around with it, OK? What is in furtherance of reaching that goal? I thought we had to have a better campaign.”
She was also concerned that the Democrats would lose control of the House and the Senate if Biden was on the ticket.
No Policies on Harris’ Website
Pundits have noted that there are not any promises or policy positions on Kamala’s website.
The Democrats seem to have only one message, which is that “Trump is bad.”
It looks as though Pelosi and Harris will just continue to support Biden’s policies, but no one is sure at this point.
The other question facing Harris is talking to reporters without a teleprompter.
In her few weeks as the official candidate to go against Trump, she’s had limited press availability.
She made one statement when Russia made a prisoner swap, which was another word salad answer.
Things were so bad for her press entourage that J.D. Vance stopped by to see if they needed anything since Harris doesn’t talk to them.
Only time will tell if Pelosi made the right call by throwing Biden under the bus.
