Crime exploded all across the nation following the death of George Floyd in May of 2020.Â
Criminals appear to be more emboldened and ruthless than at any other time in recent memory, causing millions of Americans to live in a state of terror. Â
And New Yorkers are demanding answers after the unthinkable happened to this elderly lady.
New York City has become an epicenter for America’s crime problem
Crime is on the rise in America, especially in the many Democrat-controlled parts of the country.Â
New York City in particular has seen a massive spike in crime in recent years, leaving law-abiding citizens in the Big Apple fearful for their lives.Â
Last Friday, New York’s crime problem was put on full display after a 73-year-old lady was brutally attacked and robbed in Brooklyn.Â
At around 9:30 PM, an unnamed 73-year-old woman was ambushed while walking around Nevins Street near Fulton Street in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.Â
According to police, the attacker allegedly punched the victim several times in the face and body and knocked her to the ground.Â
While the victim was down, the suspect snatched her pocketbook and then fled the scene.Â
The suspect, who was described as a young black woman wearing a black hoodie, remains at large.Â
The victim is expected to make a full recovery despite receiving painful injuries to her face and torso.Â
Earlier this month, a 70-year-old man was similarly attacked and robbed in Manhattan as he got off the N-Train at West 32nd Street and Broadway.Â
Like the Brooklyn attack, no arrests have been made as of yet in regards to these brutal muggings.Â
According to New York Police Department statistics, 351 robberies were reported last week in New York City alone. Â
This is a major spike over this same week last year, which saw 323 robberies.Â
As of last Sunday, a whopping 13,452 robberies have been reported in 2023.Â
The bottom line is that New York is as dangerous as ever, despite efforts by New York City Mayor Eric Adams to get a grip on crime.Â
New York has become a case study on why left-wing crime policies do not work
Following the death of George Floyd in 2020, many states and localities took drastic steps to gut their police departments and change their legal justice systems to favor criminals.Â
Predictably, crime is on the rise in nearly all of the places that took such actions in 2020.Â
New York City was among the many Democrat-controlled cities that took drastic steps to help criminals avoid prosecution and accountability for their horrifying actions.Â
And law-abiding citizens, like the 73-year-old woman who was simply out for a walk in Brooklyn, are the ones who ultimately pay the price for these failed policies.Â
