Fans were wracked with grief when Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak announced his retirement.

The 77-year-old TV star finished his incredible four-decade stint as the host on June 7.

But now Pat Sajak fans are jumping for joy over this exciting news.

Sajak plans to make a brief return to television

While Pat Sajak finally ended his 40-year run as the host of Wheel of Fortune in June of this year, he’s already planning to come out of retirement for a brief moment.

TVLine has confirmed that Sajak is hosting Wheel of Fortune’s celebrity edition this fall.

ABC announced Sajak’s return in their fall primetime schedule, much to the joy of fans all over the country.

During Sajak’s farewell episode of Wheel of Fortune, he thanked his viewers for their loyalty.

“I have a few thanks and acknowledgements before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there. It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade,” he said in the final episode.

Sajak also noted that the show has had a much bigger impact than just being a source of entertainment.

He said “it’s been a place where kids learn their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors and entire generations. What an honor to have played even a small part in all of that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

The iconic role will now be taken over by another TV personality, Ryan Seacrest.

Seacrest said he’s looking forward to his new job as the game show’s host.

One of his Instagram posts caused quite a stir among fans of the show when he teased his upcoming appearance.

The 49-year-old shared a video and an image of some of his favorite foods, which included tinned fish and hummus.

Fans are abuzz about the new host

“Do you miss working at Live or [are you] excited about your new job? Sure miss you in the mornings,” a fan wrote to Seacrest.

Seacrest replied and said “I’m very excited.”

That simple response got TV viewers excited as well, with most of them saying they couldn’t wait to see his debut on the iconic game show.

Meanwhile, the new celebrity episodes of Wheel of Fortune featuring Sajak are set to premiere on Monday, October 7.

Sajak also plans to star in a play next year called Prescription: Murder where he will share the stage with Hawaii newscaster Joe Moore.

The play is being held at the Hawaii Theatre Center and Sajak will play the role of a “brilliant psychiatrist” who comes up with a plan to murder his wife.
