The pandemic changed lives forever, with lingering effects still felt – especially in young people who lost more than a year of learning as schools shut down.
But the pandemic and all its effects were not the only things that caused students to suffer.
Now Randi Weingarten and the teachers unions are working with Democrats to rewrite pandemic history.
Students were used as guinea pigs during the pandemic
Technology has played a vital role in modern education.
But opportunity gaps worsened when entire school districts were closed after the pandemic.
American families still feel the impact of the interruption of face-to-face education and instruction in the classroom.
The word “resilient” is overused in describing pandemic-era children.
And now the scores are in.
Test scores from the Department of Education show how “resilient” the pandemic generation of students were.
Reading and math scores are the lowest they have been in decades.
One does not have to be a Trump supporter to recognize that the former administration wanted to keep schools open and reopen them as soon as possible.
But that is not what happened after partisan tides changed in late 2020.
A tradition of unions working as an extension of partisan activism
Randi Weingarten is the President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).
She was driving CDC health care policy while schools remained closed.
Even though she works for a teachers union.
Now Weingarten, the corporate-controlled media, and the White House are trying to make sure parents forget about poor test scores, upticks in childhood depression, and other mental health issues.
Thankfully after two years of disruption from a pandemic that killed more than 1 mil Americans, schools are already working on helping kids recover and thrive. This is a year to accelerate learning by rebuilding relationships, focusing on the basics https://t.co/FuqozCPONK

But the ugly truth is, Weingarten wanted schools closed longer.
Even when medical professionals encouraged schools to reopen.
Even when we discovered children were at low risk of COVID effects.
Even when schools around the world continued to open back in a return to normalcy.
Remember, teacher unions fought, tooth and nail, to keep schools closed.
The latest attempt to rewrite the history books
When the pandemic began, there were so many unknowns.
Yes, schools were closed in the spring of 2020.
As time passed, more studies came out of the pandemic, signaling some normalcy for children.
Yet, schools in the United States remained closed even when the idea was safely backed by science.
Now Weingarten and her Fake News Media allies are pushing a new campaign to claim they care about the kids.
This new union messaging campaign is total gaslighting.
Republicans wanted to keep schools open, remember?
Florida, anyone?
Threats from the largest teachers unions across the country influenced a large portion of school districts going into 2021.
But the White House listened to the unions, like Weingarten’s AFT more than families and children.
Decisions were made based on partisan politics, not health and education concerns – and certainly not by following “the science.”
Everyone agrees that school closures had a severely negative impact on American students.
Now, with Midterm elections around the corner, will parents remember the original architects behind the closures?
