Donald Trump has announced he is running once again for President in 2024.
Many political pundits believe Trump has only one rival who could potentially best him in the GOP primary, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
And now Ron DeSantis has announced a special release date that has Presidential speculation swirling on the beltway.
Ron on the rise
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida was one of the only bright spots for the GOP in the 2022 Midterm elections.
Back in 2018, DeSantis barely escaped that election night as a winner.
Only about 32,500 votes – or 0.4-points – separated DeSantis from his radical-Leftist Democrat opponent, Andrew Gillum – who has since been indicted on federal crimes.
Since then, DeSantis has governed to the right of perhaps every other Governor in the country.
Conventional political wisdom would suggest, doing so in a purple state would make DeSantis vulnerable in his re-election bid.
Democrats put up, possibly, their biggest name in the state to challenge DeSantis, in former governor, Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist.
However, what was once considered a potential Democrat pickup, turned out to be a landslide.
DeSantis destroyed Crist by nearly 20-points – more than 1.5-million votes – quite the turnaround from 2018.
And he did so while being enemy number one – or at least 1B – from the corporate-controlled media.
DeSantis even had the three hosts of the Oscars mocking him on national television.
And unlike other candidates, DeSantis had coattails.
Republican Senator Marco Rubio was supposed to be in a competitive re-election contest against Democrat Rep. Val Demings.
Instead, Rubio cruised to re-election by about 16.5-points.
That is an incredibly rapid transition from purple state to one of the reddest states in the country in just four-short years – and DeSantis did so with conservative-populist governing.
Four Republicans also flipped House seats in the Sunshine State – largely thanks to DeSantis fighting for the best possible lines in the redistricting process.
DeSantis as the blueprint
Now, DeSantis is releasing a new book, The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival.
The book serves both as an autobiography of DeSantis’ life as well as a deep dive into his substantial policy achievements in Florida.
“What Florida has done is establish a blueprint for governance that has produced tangible results while serving as a rebuke to the entrenched elites who have driven our nation into the ground,” DeSantis wrote in his book. “Florida is proof positive that we, the people, are not powerless in the face of these elites.”
DeSantis has announced the release date for his book will be February 28, 2023.
Political insiders are looking at this as the biggest hint yet DeSantis will enter the GOP primary for President in 2024.
With Donald Trump already announcing he is running for the White House for a third time, all eyes are now on America’s Governor.
Run Ron, run?
A poll from Politico/Morning Consult shows the former President as the clear frontrunner in the race for the GOP nomination.
In fact, DeSantis is the only potential candidate who even registers double-digits against the 45th President of the United States.
The survey has Trump with a clear plurality of support, 47%.
That’s 14-points ahead of the second-place finisher, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 33%.
However, that 14-point advantage for Trump is significantly smaller than polling showed earlier this year.
Trump’s Vice President, Mike Pence registered in a very distant third with only 5% support.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz scored 2%, while Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley, and Liz Cheney each received just 1% of respondents saying they were their preferred choice.
