The world is on the precipice of a spiritual awakening that many of us can’t comprehend.

We can all feel it deep in our hearts and we know that nothing will stop it.

But the Vatican just announced a strange set of guidelines that left people wondering what is coming.

The Vatican: The rise of “mass media” has influenced “presumed apparitions”

In the latter half of the 20th Century, mass media exploded in the western world.

The growing networks of televised journalism created a world where people could be quickly informed about major events.

But it also created an environment where people could be easily influenced and manipulated.

The Vatican saw the potential problems that could emerge from this new era and addressed it in a document published in 1978.

Norms Regarding the Manner of Proceedings in the Discernment of Presumed Apparitions or Revelations was adopted to direct Catholic parishioners in a time where “apparitions” were publicized in the media.

The document explains that “presumed apparitions” were on the rise and being “diffused rapidly” due to the increase in “mass media.”

The Vatican hoped to provide “criteria for judging, at least with probability, the character of presumed apparitions or revelations.”

Mexican statue of Virgin Mary “weeps” in a state torn apart by rising violence

The Vatican describes an apparition as the presentation of a divine entity in a real-world encounter, whether it be the Virgin Mary or Jesus Christ.

Now we are living in a modern age of media where anyone with a mobile device can record supernatural activities and even create them out of nothing.

And these apparitions are becoming far more common.

In November of 2023, a video of the Virgin of Dolores sparked the interest of social media users and prompted a mass pilgrimage to the town of Colima, Mexico.

The event was described as a “real-life miracle” by the Daily Mail.

Witnesses to the tears described the “reddening” of the Virgin Mary’s eyes as she wept.

Many attributed the miracle to a rise in violent crime in the area surrounding Colima.

Now the Vatican is making a major move that has people concerned about what happens next.

Vatican officials are set to release “clear guidelines” for discerning apparitions

The Holy See Press Office is set to release new guidelines in a live-streamed event.

The guidelines will presumably build on the 1978 document that was designed to help the faithful discern between real apparitions and hoaxes.

The Vatican will encourage its parishioners to exercise “extreme prudence” when faced with modern-day apparitions.

Church officials have said that apparitions should be reported to diocesan bishops, who will document and scrutinize them before sending them to Rome.

The Prefect for the Dicastery for the Doctrine of Faith, Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, will take center stage at the live-streamed event to reveal the guidelines to the public.

Cardinal Fernández said they are “in the process of finalizing” the new text and promised to release “clear guidelines and norms for discernment of apparitions and other phenomena.”
