Leftist politicians love to talk a good game when it comes to helping their fellow man.
But after years of promises, when the time comes to actually live up to their rhetoric, they refuse to put their money where their mouth is.
And New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy just said “nevermind”about all that welcoming stuff.
Call him the Trenton Trickster
While running for Governor in 2017, Phil Murphy said that “Donald Trump and Chris Christie have shown us that elections have consequences,and that the most effective tactic to push back to reject the politics of division and fear mongering is to use the ballot box. We’ll be a sanctuary – not just city – but state.”
Murphy used moral preening to shame his Republican opponent in order to win an election.
He postured in a way to show that Pennsylvania was ripe for the arrival of all manner of immigrants from the relatively safe confines of a state far removed from our nation’s southern border.
He made all the standard left-wing moves of restricting local law enforcement from coordinating with ICE or probing into a suspect’s immigration status unless it was “necessary to the ongoing investigation.”
That part was easy, but things got a lot tougher once a radical Democrat named Joe Biden assumed the Presidency and went on to pretend that our nation’s southern border simply didn’t exist.
The porous border resulting from Biden’s bungling led to a mass surge in illegal border crossings that overextended resources in states along the Rio Grande, especially Texas.
Governor Greg Abbott (R) decided to send busloads of new arrivals to areas where elected representatives had rhetorically been putting out the welcome mat for decades.
New York City was a favorite destination since it proclaimed itself as a “sanctuary city” and 100,000 illegal aliens found their way there in the last 18 months.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) can’t get rid of these people fast enough and has been pawning them off to areas far away from the city and in some cases along the Canadian border.
Murphy: Don’t send them here!
Murphy has suddenly done a 180.
When Biden administration officials designated New Jersey’s Atlantic City International Airport as the next destination for Adams to unload his no-longer welcome illegal aliens, Murphy told a local station that “I don’t see any scenario where we’re going to be able to take in a program in Atlantic City or frankly elsewhere in the state. You need scale, enormous amounts of federal support, resources that go beyond anything that we can afford. Putting everything else aside, I just don’t see it. I would suspect that that will continue to be the case.”
In the end, his response perfectly encapsulates all that is wrong with left-wing immigration policy.
Murphy and those of similar mind invited these people in.
But when they couldn’t handle the influx, they tried to get rid of them as quickly as possible and demanded more taxpayer funding from the feds.
It’s almost as if they got this entire thing wrong from the get-go and should have listened to their political opponents who cautioned that immigration laws should be enforced.
Here’s to hoping the voters remember this on Election Day.
