As the New Year approaches, many are starting to wonder how the highly anticipated 2024 elections will unfold in America.
Based on the results of a few recent foreign elections, the political Right may have an advantage next year.
And this major election just sent shockwaves all across the world.
Global trends can reveal a lot about the upcoming 2024 Presidential election
For many people, the election of Donald Trump in 2016 came as a major shock.
But for those who keep a pulse on global politics, Trump’s victory was not quite so shocking.
Prior to the 2016 election, global political currents indicated that right-wing populism was on the rise, especially when looking at the successful results of the BREXIT election in the United Kingdom.
With the 2024 General Election less than a year away, many political experts are keeping a close eye on foreign elections.
And election results from Argentina this past weekend sent the radical Left into an all-out panic.
On Sunday, voters in Argentina overwhelmingly picked Javier Milei to serve as their next President.
Milei is described by many on the Left as a right-wing populist due to his raucous communication strategies and anti-big government views.
Milei secured almost 56% of the vote in the election.
In his victory speech, Milei claimed that “today ends the idea that the state’s loot is to be divided among politicians and their friends. Today ends that vision that the victimizers are the victims and the victims the victimizers.”
He added that “today, we retake the path that made this country great, today we again embrace the ideas of liberty.”
Milei previously spurned the wrath of leftists when he said he supported the abolition of several government agencies like the Education Department, which he often refers to as a brainwashing institution.
Similarly, Milei recently claimed that “Mickey Mouse is the aspiration of every Argentine politician because he is a disgusting rodent whom everybody loves.”
Chiming in on Argentina’s election results was former President Donald Trump.
“Congratulations to Javier Milei on a great race for President of Argentina,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The whole world was watching! I am very proud of you. You will turn your Country around and truly Make Argentina Great Again!”
Why Americans should take a very close look at the Argentina elections
Argentina and the United States are two very different nations, but they face many of the same issues and conflicts, especially in today’s globalized world.
And make no mistake, Argentina is no third world backwater.
In fact, many foreign policy experts agree that Argentina is among the most developed nations in South America.
Additionally, Argentina saw nearly 26 million voters hit the polls on Sunday, which is a large voting base who cannot be ignored.
Other nations that have seen major right-wing uprisings in recent months include Italy and Spain, which have made international headlines for their recent elections and protests.
