This shocking arrest just rocked the political landscape weeks out from the Midterm elections

Though some want us to forget, claims of security issues in our election systems aren’t new at all.

It’s not difficult to find clips of Kamala Harris warning us of security issues prior to 2020, but now to talk about election integrity is practically banned.

But this shocking arrest just rocked the political landscape weeks out from the Midterm elections.

George Gascón is charging an election technology CEO for “theft of personal identifying information”

It’s not everyday District Attorney George Gascón gets applause from a conservative audience.

But then there are the days where the Los Angeles DA arrests the CEO of a tech company that could be at the center of Chinese espionage in the US election system.

Eugene Yu, the founder and CEO of Konnech Corporation was arrested in Michigan on behalf of the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

They are now seeking to extradite Yu to L.A. County to face charges of “theft of personal identifying information” of election workers.

Gascón claims that there was no impact to any elections and this theft had nothing to do with counting votes, but wants to assure people, “security in all aspects of any election is essential so that we all have full faith in the integrity of the election process.”

This one incident could prove to actually be affecting counties nationwide.

That could eventually show a bigger impact on elections overall.

This investigation could be impacting nearly two million election workers in counties across the country

True the Vote had a conference in Arizona earlier this year where they revealed that they gained access to the Konnech database and had access to the personal information of nearly two million election workers.

Not to mention all of this data was housed in China in direct violation of many of their contracts.

Information that was alleged to contain things like their phone numbers, home address, pictures, driver’s license numbers, and more.

They are said to have had a “small role” in the investigation and thanked Gascón’s office for the work they did on the case, though the DA’s office reportedly claimed they weren’t involved.

True the Vote has been working on the 2020 election issues from the very beginning.

Greg Phillips and Catherine Engelbrecht have devoted a lot of resources to informing the public about what they have discovered.

“Election integrity should not be a partisan issue, nor should media try to suppress all conversation about it in a way that benefits one party,” Engelbrecht said. “We will continue to report evidence of threats to our election process and work with law enforcement to ensure our elections are a secure space for all American voters.”

D’Souza points to the possibility of Chinese espionage and influence in our election systems

The development with Konnech has led many prominent conservative influencers to cautiously celebrate.

Most people know that they’re pulling on a thread that could lead to a long-winded battle in the court of public opinion and the actual court of law.

Dinesh D’Souza who popularly directed the documentary 2000 Mules from data collected by True the Vote had his own perspective on Yu’s arrest.

D’Souza commented on Twitter, “This article is especially relevant in the wake of the arrest today of Konnech founder and CEO Eugene Yu. Election tampering has consequences!” He posted a link to the article, “Have Chinese Spies Infiltrated American Elections?”

There’s still a long way to fully restore the integrity of our election system.

Organizations like True the Vote are surely helping.

Strangely enough, so is Gascón, in this case.
