Illegal aliens are pouring across the southern border at an unprecedented rate.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are near the breaking point.
And this shocking new survey shows the devastating toll Joe Biden’s open borders agenda is taking on Border Patrol agents.
One quarter of CBP agents are preparing to leave the agency within the next 12 months
The border has been under siege for nearly two and a half years and there’s no signs of it slowing down anytime soon. Agents serving the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are fed up with the overwhelming number of illegal aliens and their lack of resources on the job.
Recently, the leadership at the CBP decided to survey the agents to better understand the morale within the organization. The results were staggering, with nearly 25 percent of CBP agents already having a plan to quit their posts within the next 12 months.
Department of Homeland Security Office Inspector General Joseph Cuffari said this should be a major concern, but lawmakers and government officials do not even have a plan to deal with the impending labor crisis that will only make matters worse on the southern border.
He said there must be a change in direction if the CBP is going to continue to protect the border.
Agents are spending record amounts of time on administrative tasks
CBP Agents on the southwest border are already overworked. In the first half of Fiscal Year 2022, the agency has racked up over 881,000 hours of overtime. Those figures add up to an extra 14 days of work for Customs and Border agents over the course of the year.
Agents claim that not only are they facing longer hours and increased workloads, but they are also being placed in posts unrelated to their jobs. They are spending a lot of time on administrative work and managing processing centers and feel pressured to push immigrants through approval.
Nearly three out of four CBP agents said that their workstations are not fully equipped with the tools they need to get the job done. That problem doesn’t get any better at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with just over 60 percent reporting the same issue.
While Republicans call attention to the issue, Democrats are mostly dismissing it.
Democrats slam the report pointing to the failed policies of the Biden administration
Democrat Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA) said that the survey was “deeply flawed, politicized, and problematic.” He called into question Dr. Cuffari’s bias and pointed to his appointment by former President Donald Trump.
He said the report that was sent out to over 9,000 agents was prepared inadequately and that it could not be used to make new policy decisions. Garcia slammed Cuffari by stating that “this is a report that would not pass muster in any serious survey work.”
Republican Representative Grotham (R-WI) said that some people “will never get over” the fact that Trump appointed Cuffari. He said that Biden should listen to the agents because they say that removing policies like the “remain-in-Mexico” rule is making agents flee their jobs.
