Twitter surprisingly unlocks the account of this highly influential investigative journalism organization

Conservatives have largely been celebrating the new leadership at Twitter under Elon Musk.

After years of being targeted and suspended, some of the most influential right-leaning accounts are finally being restored.

Now in a surprising move Elon Musk has officially restored the account of this highly influential investigative journalism organization.

While Twitter was busy celebrating Trump’s account coming back online others were asking about another account

Last week, Twitter erupted as the news spread that Donald Trump’s account has officially been restored.

After a 24-hour poll resulting in over 15 million votes, Elon Musk made the announcement declaring “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” or “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

This resulted in Trump trending all weekend and a lot of speculation about what would happen next.

Trump responded that he “wasn’t going anywhere” and would stay on Truth Social.

That didn’t stop people from following his account again – which quickly shot from 0 followers to over 80 million the next day.

There were also a lot of great “welcome back, sir” memes.

But while everyone else was celebrating Trump, others were asking about this influential journalist that was banned by Twitter in early 2021.

96% vote in favor of Project Veritas in Twitter poll

Popular libertarian podcaster Tim Pool created his own poll.

Should Elon Musk restore Project Veritas?

The results were astounding.

Over 145,000 people voted and 96% voted in favor of restoring Veritas and bringing one of the most powerful forces in viral political videos on Twitter.

Project Veritas has been credited with many viral video stories in conservative media.

They’re best known for going undercover and recording tech and media executives.

They’ve also had reporters infiltrate political campaigns.

According to their website, the company “investigates and exposes corruption, dishonesty, self-dealing, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions to achieve a more ethical and transparent society.”

Project Veritas was originally suspended for sharing video of Facebook executive

They were originally suspended from Twitter after sharing a video of Facebook Vice President Guy Rosen admitting that Facebook was “able to freeze commenting on threads in cases where [their] systems are detecting that there may be a thread that has hate speech or violence” and that these measures were put in place to “protect the election” in 2020.

The company responded to Twitter’s action in a post on the platform following the decision.

They said “Thank you” to Musk “for reinstating the Project Veritas Twitter account and for standing up for real investigative journalism.”

They took their first tweet back to also tease an upcoming video.

They said everyone should “stay tuned for an exclusive on this account 11/29 – A brave whistleblower inside the federal government is going on the record about child trafficking.”

Musk is looking to “open-source” the news in his new vision of Twitter

The restoration of Project Veritas lines up perfectly with what Musk has been trying to do with the platform.

He has been tweeting a lot about the investigative work of real journalists on Twitter.

He used the FTX scandal as an example writing in a post that “coverage of FTX meltdown is incomparably faster *and* better quality on Twitter than old-school media.”

He says that “Twitter is like open-sourcing the news.”
