The weaponization of the FBI started to pick up steam during Barack Obama’s Presidency.
But the FBI stopped even pretending to follow the Constitution under Joe Biden.
And you won’t believe why Joe Biden’s FBI illegally spied on hundreds of thousands of Americans in 2021.
A recently unsealed Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court document shocked Washington, D.C.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) illegally spied on Americans more than 278,000 times in 2021.
Political donors and protestors under fire
According to a recently unsealed court filing from April of 2022, the FBI improperly used warrantless surveillance powers to target individual Americans.
The FBI targeted anyone who protested at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, or anyone who attended the George Floyd riots in the summer of 2020.
The agency also spied on 19,000 people who donated to a defeated Congressional candidate.
According to the unsealed filings, from May 30 to June 18, 2020, the FBI improperly used Section 702 to spy on “133 individuals arrested in connection with civil unrest and protests” that erupted after the death of George Floyd.
The filings also reported an employee with the FBI ran more than 23,000 queries “to find possible foreign influence, although the analyst conducting the queries had no indications of foreign influence related to the query term used.”
In other words, there were no grounds for the actions of the FBI.
Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act gives the federal government the power to spy on foreign individuals.
However, it also allows the FBI to gather intelligence on American citizens with connections to any of these foreign suspects.
FISA abuse is rampant
Section 702 is set to expire at the end of the year.
But many lawmakers are pushing to reform the section during reauthorization.
The section has been widely abused by the FBI and DOJ in efforts to go after American citizens who they believe pose a threat to the country.
Unfortunately, in the current FBI, those people are largely pro-life, Christian Americans.
The abuse of section 702 is so rampant that many in Congress are calling for it to be repealed.
FBI Director Christopher Wray insists that the agency has already taken steps to reform the Bureau’s querying procedures to ensure this kind of improper surveillance of American citizens does not happen in the future.
In fact, a senior FBI official told Fox News Digital that Wray “has made clear that the errors described in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court’s opinion are completely unacceptable.”
“We are committed to continuing this work and providing greater transparency into the process to earn the trust of the American people and advance our mission of safeguarding both the nation’s security and privacy and civil liberties at the same time,” the official said.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence also reported a “significant decline” in the total number of queries made into American citizens between 2021 and 2022.
The agency ran 204,000 queries on Americans in the year ending in November of 2022, which was a 94% decrease compared to the previous year’s 3.4 million queries.
Of course, any queries of this nature are a clear violation of the Constitution.
That’s why it’s time for Congress to abolish the entire Patriot Act.
