Firing Tucker Carlson was part of Fox News Channel’s master plan.

But step two is even more shocking and disheartening.

And you’ll be speechless when you see what Fox News has planned after firing Tucker Carlson.

Breitbart reported that Fox News insiders told the outlet that Rupert Murdoch plans to hold Carlson to his contract – which runs through 2024 – to prevent him from joining a competitor and allow the network to have the playing field free and clear for the next Presidential election.

Will Carlson be sidelined for 2024?

“As of right now, the plan remains the same: pay out Carlson’s contract and keep him on the sidelines through the 2024 elections,” one source at Fox News told Breitbart. “They knew they would take a beating for this, but everyone — and I mean everyone — is pretty rattled. They weren’t expecting the blowback to be this bad. Hate to say it, but it’s clear that Rupert has lost a step or two.”

Ratings collapsed in Carlson’s absence, falling nearly 60% by the third day he was off the air.

But the source told Breitbart that the Murdoch family was willing to absorb the hit because they believe conservative viewers would have no choice but to watch the network since the Presidential election is about to kick into full swing, especially if Fox can use Carlson’s existing contract to keep him off the air through the election.

“As the Dominion thing got uglier, and particularly the Grossberg thing, which is getting uglier by the minute, the Murdoch’s just want a clean slate,” another Fox News source told Breitbart. “The election is coming up next year, and they think they’re going to get their viewers back anyway because there’s nowhere else to go.”

A more establishment-friendly Fox News

Sources told Breitbart that the Murdoch’s wanted a more establishment-friendly Fox News.

“This change at Fox makes it more fundamentally top-down driven,” the source continued. “Only recently did Fox try to reflect grassroots conservatism more. I think we’re going to see a reversion to the Fox of the past, where it’s fewer segments attacking Mitch McConnell and generally dumbed down.”

One of Breitbart’s sources revealed that firing Carlson had less to do with the 2024 Primary and more to do with the fact that he would use his program to rally grassroots opposition to RINO sellouts.

“I think this has less to do with Trump and DeSantis and more to do with people like Mitch McConnell and John Thune,” this source added. “The change in the programming will be that if there’s some sort of controversial bill moving on Capitol Hill, Tucker would often use his show to try to kill it. That sort of stuff won’t be going on anymore. I just think the network and the programming will be dumber, rah rah Republicans. Milquetoast content. It’s a reversion to what Fox was. The Tucker era at Fox was a deviation from the norm at Fox.”
