The media largely ignored the corruption scandals around the Biden family.
But there was one notable exception.
And a reporter investigated Hunter Biden and you won’t believe what happened to her.
Investigative reporter Catherine Herridge was one of the few journalists in the media who performed actual reporting instead of working in concert with the Democrat Party.
Herridge’s independence may have ended up costing her her job, as CBS fired her as part of its latest round of layoffs.
That’s where the controversy began.
George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley published a column in The Hill that included the disturbing detail that not only did CBS fire Herridge, but they also seized her personal files and computers as well.
“There is trouble brewing at Black Rock, the headquarters of CBS, after the firing of Catherine Herridge, an acclaimed investigative reporter. Many of us were shocked after Herridge was included in layoffs this month, but those concerns have increased after CBS officials took the unusual step of seizing her files, computers, and records, including information on privileged sources,” Turley wrote.
After speaking to sources at CBS, Turley pointed out that they all said this was highly unusual since reporters were previously allowed to keep the records of their reporting and work product.
But Turley smelled a rat and wrote that something larger, potentially more sinister, was at play.
At the time of her firing, Hurley said that Herridge was working on stories about the alleged Biden family influence peddling scheme, Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell,” and the report from Special Counsel Robert Hur detailing how Joe Biden was too mentally incompetent to stand trial.
“The timing of Herridge’s termination immediately raised suspicions in Washington. She was pursuing stories that were unwelcomed by the Biden White House and many Democratic powerhouses, including the Hur report on Joe Biden’s diminished mental capacity, the Biden corruption scandal and the Hunter Biden laptop. She continued to pursue these stories despite reports of pushback from CBS executives, including CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews,” Turley added.
In 2024, Democrats no longer expect the typical left-wing media bias in the way reporters describe abortion activists as supporting “reproductive freedom” or gun control as “gun safety legislation.”
Leftists expect media outlets to jump on the field of play and wear their team blue jerseys and openly work to elect Democrats.
And there is a growing worry that CBS fired Catherine Herridge because she was willing to report on stories that would better inform the public regardless of if it compromised Joe Biden’s chances of winning re-election.
