Jim Acosta is dragging down the entire CNN ship as ratings continue to plummet

The corporate-controlled media lost any pretense of objectivity after Donald Trump’s surprise victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

That’s when enterprising leftists discovered that there was money and notoriety in whipping up the resistance.

And now Jim Acosta is dragging down the entire CNN ship as ratings continue to plummet.

For many Americans, much of the Trump Presidency can now be seen as “the good old days.”

The border was secure, inflation was under control, and crime was much lower.

Everyone seemed to be happy except for the far-left.

For them, every slight – real or imagined – led to a seething rage.

CNN deliberately geared its programming to cater to the perpetually offended and ratings followed, but only for a while.

The same news outlet that breathlessly and negatively reported on Donald Trump became far less interested in holding elected leaders accountable when Democrats returned to power.

Anchor Jim Acosta eagerly picked fights with Trump.

One notable exchange occurred when Acosta became particularly incensed at Trump’s claims of voter fraud.

“You’ve been talking about voter fraud since the beginning of this administration and where is the evidence of it?” Acosta said during a press conference.

“I think there’s a lot of evidence, but we’ll provide you with some, okay?” Trump replied.

His campaign later shared a Heritage Foundation document of over 1,000 proven cases of voter fraud.

Incidents like this were commonplace during Donald Trump’s time in office.

But since Joe Biden assumed the Presidency, Acosta and the rest of the CNN reporters have become much less interested in playing the attack dog role.

It’s not as fun for activists masquerading as reporters when your team is mucking things up

As the Biden Presidency has been widely considered a failure, the network’s viewers have become fickle and fewer.

According to Fox News, CNN averaged 2.5 million prime-time viewers between the day after the election – November 4, 2020 – and Inauguration Day on January 20, 2021.

Within two months of Biden’s inauguration, those numbers had dropped by 36%.

Familiar face unlikely to be a saving grace

After years of further declines, weekend anchor Jim Acosta has been given a new role where he will move to weekdays to host CNN Newsroom at 10 AM.

If that’s part of a Hail Mary pass to increase ratings, then he’s being set up for failure.

After multiple revamps and firings, it seems as though the network simply can’t catch lightning in a bottle these days.

They’ve tried everything to turn their fortunes around.

They’ve even changed their corporate slogan to “Facts are facts. They aren’t colored by emotion or bias. They are indisputable. There is no alternative to a fact. Facts explain things. What they are, how they happened. Facts are not interpretations. Once facts are established, opinions can be formed. And while opinions matter, they don’t change the facts. That’s why, at CNN, we start with the facts first.”

Given the misstatements and outright falsehoods perpetuated by the network in recent years, such claims would induce blushing if those making them had any shame.

Unfortunately for Acosta, his fortunes have moved in tandem with those of the network that employs him.

What’s obvious is that Joe Biden is far less entertaining than Trump, and sycophantic coverage just doesn’t pack the same punch.

Ironically, the one thing that could save the network is another Trump term.

If that comes to pass, then Acosta and those around him may succeed in spite of themselves.
