A Catholic nonprofit sent Letitia James one request that will likely fall on deaf ears

The radical Left likes to use the judiciary as a weapon to wage their political wars against Republicans.

But now a Catholic nonprofit is trying their hand at lawfare in response to a deceitful move against the Church.

And a Catholic nonprofit sent Letitia James one request that will likely fall on deaf ears.

“Mother of whores” receives funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Earlier this month, a Catholic priest sparked outrage when he filled the pews of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City with trans-activists celebrating the life of Cecilia Gentili.

Father Edward Dougherty performed the rites for Gentili, who was a 52-year-old trans-activist.

Gentili had worked as a prostitute before becoming a prominent figure in trans-activism.

The church was packed with over 1,000 onlookers and videos of the funeral went viral online.

The funeral was full of the normal LGBTQ themes.

Eulogists at the service named Gentili “Saint Cecilia, mother of whores,” a speaker prayed for transgender healthcare, and a cross-dressing star sang a Whitney Houston song.

The funeral immediately drew criticism.

Archdiocese calls the group requesting the funeral “deceptive”

Catholic groups were quick to call out the ceremony.

CatholicVote said that it was a “mockery” of the Church, before adding that it was “unbelievable and sick.”

One prominent Reverend, Nicholas Gregoris, said that it was nothing short of “blasphemous” and declared it an outright “desecration” of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Catholic scholar Raymond Arroyo slammed the move as a “catastrophe” for the Church and called on fellow parishioners to demand an explanation.

“Not everyone can get married…or get a funeral at St. Patrick’s,” he said, before adding that “there are requirements.”

The outrage forced a response from the Archdiocese of New York, Father Enrique Salvo, who said that the Cathedral was unaware that their “welcome and prayer would be degraded in such a sacrilegious and deceptive way.”

“The Cathedral only knew that family and friends were requesting a funeral Mass for a Catholic,” he added.

Salvo said that this scandal is a “potent reminder of how much we need the prayer, repentance, grace, and mercy to which this holy season of Lent encourages.”

The Cathedral performed a Mass of Reparation in response to the funeral.

But then CatholicVote took it another step further.

Funeral should be investigated as a “hate crime”

CatholicVote President Brian Burch has sent a letter to New York Attorney General Letitia James demanding an investigation into the funeral.

The letter said that these activists used deceptive tactics to “gain access and advance ideas and beliefs hostile to doctrines of the Catholic Church, while openly mocking these beliefs.”

Burch suggests that the use of deception to conduct a funeral for a prominent trans-activist should be considered as a possible hate crime under New York law.

“Video footage shows that transgender activists intentionally used deception to enter St. Patrick’s and the facts show that access was used to desecrate that sacred space and mock Catholic faith and morals,” Burch wrote. “The outrageous sacrilege perpetrated at St. Patrick’s Cathedral is indeed a hate crime.”

The letter likely won’t go far with Letitia James, who is currently in the process of using her political position to persecute the Republican front-runner for the 2024 election.

But at least James will now be forced to ignore an obvious crime in the view of the public.
