Tim Allen has been a part of some of the most popular sitcoms on television.

But his fans were wondering what his next big project would be.

And Tim Allen’s new sitcom is starting to come together after this big announcement.

Comedian Tim Allen became one of the most beloved personalities on television for his hit sitcoms Home Improvement and Last Man Standing.

Now, Allen is looking to return to network television with another sitcom that leans into his conservative blue-collar persona.

New Tim Allen sitcom could be his next big hit

Allen is working on the pilot for a sitcom called Shifting Gears for ABC.

ABC is where he starred for eight seasons as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor on Home Improvement in the 90s and where Last Man Standing spent six of its nine seasons before it moved over to Fox.

The description of his character on the show has the familiar feel to the previous sitcom leads that he’s played.

Shifting Gears revolves around Matt (Allen), a stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Allen is also going to be an executive producer on the sitcom.

The other producers behind the show have worked on hits like Everyone Loves Raymond, The Simpsons, and Parks and Recreation.

“We are at it again! ABC just ordered a comedy pilot, Shifting Gears,” Allen wrote on X.

Shifting Gears adds a big-name member to its cast

Shifting Gears got the first big-name addition to its cast besides Allen.

Actress Kat Dennings is joining Shifting Gears as a co-star who plays his daughter Riley.

“Dennings’ Riley butted heads with her father growing up and left to marry the boyfriend he hated. Now divorced, Riley’s forced to move back home with two kids, hoping she and her dad can make it work this time,” Deadline exclusively reported.

Dennings starred for six seasons on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls

More recently, she reprised her role as Darcy Lewis from the Thor movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the Disney+ series WandaVision.

With the sitcom’s two leads set, things are beginning to fall into place for Shifting Gears.

Now fans can eagerly wait to see if Tim Allen strikes comedy gold once again with his latest ABC sitcom.
