Joe Biden is on the ropes heading into the 2024 election.
But Democrats are scrambling to find a way to drag him across the finish line.
And comedian Bill Maher made one prediction about Joe Biden that had Democrats on edge.
Will the Presidential debates happen this year?
No one is quite sure if there will be any traditional Presidential debates this election cycle.
Currently, there are three debates scheduled, beginning on September 16 in San Marcos, Texas.
Former President Donald Trump let President Joe Biden know that he was ready to go, anytime or anywhere.
“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD).”
The Trump campaign has also suggested moving up the dates because of the increase in mail-in and early voting.
But Biden has been hesitant to commit to facing his challenger on the debate stage.
“Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me too,” Biden told reporters in February. “He’s got nothing else to do.”
The President later suggested his participation in the debates was contingent on Trump’s behavior.
Now the media is putting pressure on both candidates to agree to a debate this fall.
A coalition of media outlets, including Fox News, CNN, ABC News, and PBS, sent a letter to the Trump and Biden campaigns urging them to publicly commit to participating in the debates this fall.
The media and Trump are on board with the debates, which leaves Biden as the lone holdout.
During the 2020 election, his handlers were able to successfully use the pandemic to keep him hidden from the public.
Biden is facing serious questions about his mental decline due to his confused public appearances and a growing number of verbal gaffes.
Debates would be a prime opportunity for the President to silence any critics of his mental aptitude.
Bill Maher predicts that Biden will debate and it won’t go well
During a panel on his HBO show Real Time, comedian Bill Maher predicted that Biden would eventually cave in and agree to the debates.
“I think it’s going to be bad on Biden if he goes in to do the debate,” Maher said. “I’ve said it before, they’re almost the same age, but, for some reason, Trump just doesn’t present as old and feeble and he doesn’t — he looks — he kind of looks the same.”
New York Post columnist Piers Morgan added that Trump would score a resounding victory over Biden in a debate.
He said that there’s a reason the President avoids press conferences and interviews.
The debates are an opportunity for him to faceplant or commit a game-changing gaffe on national television in front of tens of millions of voters.
Democrats will be on pins and needles if Joe Biden takes the debate stage this fall.
