Sometimes things in life occur that people just don’t expect.

In some cases, these events can spark a unique and shocking reaction from the person who experienced it.

And a woman named her baby after a restaurant chain after something even more unexpected happened.

A woman gave birth to a baby in a Golden Corral restaurant

Tayvia Woodfork and her family arrived at the Golden Corral restaurant in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 4 as a party of 11 who planned to enjoy a meal together.

When they arrived that day, they had no idea what kind of a twist this otherwise average event would take.

After all was said and done, the Woodfork family would leave the Golden Corral as a party of 12.

Tayvia’s mom, Tameka Woodfork, said that her daughter started to have stomach pain during the meal and went to the bathroom.

After around 10 minutes, Tameka went to check on Tayvia and discovered her daughter was in physical distress as she cried in pain.

Tayvia told Today that “I didn’t know what was happening,” before adding that they immediately called for medical assistance.

“I said, ‘We have to go to the hospital,’ but she couldn’t move her legs, so we ended up calling 911,” she said.

What the pair didn’t know is that Tayvia was actually 37 weeks pregnant and in labor.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, she experienced a phenomenon called a cryptic pregnancy, which occurs when a woman doesn’t know that they are pregnant.

Tayvia said she didn’t experience any symptoms before that day.

She never gained weight or felt the baby move.

“There were no signs. We had no idea,” her mother said.

After the paramedics arrived, Tayvia gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

“They were still trying to figure out what was going on when she went, ‘It’s out! It’s out!’ The baby was in the toilet,” Tameka added.

The baby weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and was named Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork.

Unexpected birth creates quite a stir

By the time patrons at the restaurant knew what happened with Tayvia, some had already started to suggest that she name the baby “Golden.”

But Tayvia said she preferred the name “Corral.”

“When we walked out, everybody was clapping and people were lined up to see,” she told Today.

Not too long after the birth, Golden Corral spread the word on social media and referred to the newborn as the restaurant chain’s “youngest fan.”

The company also gave the family a Golden Corral gift card and a box full of baby essentials.

“As surprised as our team was at the news of a baby being born at our restaurant, we are truly honored to play such a momentous role in Tamaar’s life,” a Golden Corral spokesperson said in a statement. “But no honor compares to having Tamaar carry on the ‘Golden Corral’ brand name in his own name, Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork!”
